Putting the tranny back to getther FINALLY!

Does anyone know the length of the bolt that holds in the checkball assembly that controls the shift forks rods on the manual tranny? With no compression, it appears to be 20 mm. But, I remember some spring compression when I disassembled the tranny.

The more expensive the repair, the more annoying the part.

The bolt is a little more than an inch long, with a 14mm head. The spring is a good 1-1/2" or more long.

Don't forget there is one last check ball that goes in before that spring.

The spring and ball are in the hole. Good use of tape. I measured the spring at 55 mm. Just short of 2 inches. With the gears in neutral, the remaining depth is just shy of 20 mm. I guess no other spring presure is really neccesary.

Thanks for the shout.
