Well, here is a very very stupid question and I am very embarassed for even asking this.
I want to do my own oil changes. So, I go out and buy mobil 1 tri-synthetic oil, an oil drain pan and also a genuine Nissan oil filter.
Now what I think is the oil plug is a large bolt (am I wrong???) but I could not see the oil filter from either the top or the bottom of the car. The bottom has those plastic protective panels that are inhibiting my sight. Where do I look for the oil filter on the car???
Also is the big bolt the one that I open to let all the dirty oil out?
Thank You. All help will greatly appreciated. Please help a fellow member become a DIY guy!!!

I work in a garage and the Maxima is probably one of the easiest vehicles to do an oil change on. If you have access to ramps or hydraulic jacks, that would make it so much easier. I think that the oil drain plug is a 16mm, if I remember correctly. And the filter is accessible by either turning the steering wheel to the right and you can gain access to the filter by pushing aside the liner OR you can just get under the car and reach around, which is what I do. Replace with a new one. Put in about 4 - 4.5 quarts of oil, and you are done. Remember to check all the fluids.
Oil Changing....
I love to change my oil on this car. Out of the 3 cars I owned before this, this one is by far the easiest to change. Thanks Nissan for making it easier, now You just have to work on things like the crappy paint job. and trying to make it better

Old Oil?
This will be my first time doing it. I was planning to collect it for the next 2 - 3 oil changes which gives me enough time to think about what to do with it. I was plannig to take it to the local recycling center and hand it over to them.

Thank You
Thank You all for all the replies. Eddie ng also offered to come to my place and help me change the oil for the first time. This place is really great. I did change my oil yesterday. Well from this thread I learnt four things
1. Oil filter and oil drain plug is on the passenger side behind the fender wall
2. Tranny fluid drain plug is somewhere on the driver side
3. Eddie ng lives close by so if I screwup I can get help.
4. You can drop off the used oil to any gas station or local auto store.
Thanks guys.
