Tranny Code...?

so i decided to check my car on the computer since the SES light was on, and it came out to be an o2 sensor (nothing new, under warranty). I decide to check the trans out, and it gives me:

P1705-TPS to TCM Problem

Would i need to change the TPS?

How did you check the trans? I saw some write up somewhere that showed insane looking process of turning the key on and moving the shifter know and then something about putting the pedal to the floor....is this how you did it? Also someoen told me that if you had a tranny code you can clear it like you would a SES code...not true?
