Burning/heat under dash

There's a ton of heat coming from under my dash near my right foot. It's not blowing on my foot, but the entire area there is very warm. So much so that my right foot is sweating while my left foot is freezing (it's winter here).

When i get out of the car it smells like something is burning. Maybe not burning, but its an odd smell.

And no, it's not my heat, since i rarely use the heat.

Any help with what this might be would be appreciated.

check your exhaust, it runs under the center hump. OH and even if you climate control is off but on a hot setting it will let heat in on your feet. Only way to keep that from happening is to turn it down to a lower number.

Alright, i'm going for a drive in a bit so ill try and figure out exactly where it's coming from.

But if it were my ECU, wouldn't i be noticing my engine screwing up somehow or not running at all?

So even if i hadn't been using it at all since i started the car and went driving around for a bit, it would still let heat in on my feet?

That doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah, you should be...but thats not to say you are. Cars are weird sometimes.

About the climate control, keep the fan off, the recycle air switch on, the temp slider(of number if you have an auto climate control) down to 70 or so.

And the exhaust...man that would be a lot of heat sutter. Not doubting you, thats a good hunch, but I just dont think it is probable. If all else fails, check your exhaust...

Your GLE has an auto climate control. It will stay at what ever temp you left it at even when you turn it off. So if you left it at 85 the blower shuts off but the door inside the heater core will stay open and the hot air will still flow in slightly. I have the auto climate control too and thats how I found out. My foot was on fire one day and it hit me, turn the temp down! You can turn it down without turning it on too. Just press the blue arrow and it will still work.

Drew, while that works its going to recirculate the air and lead to condensation and not seeing out the window. Winter sucks like that.

How do I make my foot setting get hot? My feet never get hot at all.
