This weekend(7/7/01) Harold from Louisville will be driving down to jacksonville, where we will be attempting a 5 speed conversion.. we have a parts car here in Jax w/ a 5 speed tranny.. If anyone lives in Jax that is knowledable drop me an email.. cbr2@softhome.net

Wish I could help, but I'm nowhere near Jax. I would ask to take as many pics as you can. I think that would be a great FAQ or How2 article. The conversion thing has been brought up alot. I'm sure your going to have your hands full, but if you can document any major problems and the such, I think it would be a big help to the Forums....
And Good Luck!!!!!

Thanks
I think Harold is going to buy new a new clutch, pressure plate, and bearing.. And yes.. I will document it and make a FAQ for everyone.. I'm thinking it will be very easy.. not much more then a clutch job, and shifter change

Harold who? haha
OK, for whoever asked, my car (the guinea pig car) is a '95 Maxima SE w/ 111,000 miles on it, but I just had (I know I'll sound like a retard) a new auto tranny put in about 1000 miles ago (Yes, this tranny is for sale- $650)
Can any of the technical guys on the board give us a step by step of what they think needs to be done, just to make sure that CBR2 and I are on the same page and didnt overlook anything... ? Thanks!

I did not even realize this was possible - has it been done before (successfully)? How much does it cost? I don't have much money anymore (spent it all on the max!) but I wish every day that I had a manual transmission, and my Max has too many (relatively new) mods for me to afford to trade it in.
If someone can do this (well) for an amount that I can afford, I'll drive anywhere on the east coast to get this done.
Thanks,
Shayyadin

Possible...
yes its possible. Nissan quoted me 4300$ to do the conversion, so I passed on that. I located a donor car (CBR2) in jacksonville that I will be purchasing my parts from, and we are just going to set the cars side by side and do it. I believe it has been done on a 3rd gen and maybe 4th gen before, but it is not a very common thing.
If any of the guys who have done it before read this, PLEASE post or email me so I can have your contact info incase we run into any issues that you already solved. Thanks!
