Which clutch?

Hey all,

After reading the forum FAQ and doing a search, I was surprised to find that a lot of people are using the 5th Gen clutch for 00-01 on our 4th Gen's. Does that mean that my 99 (build in 98) can take a 00-01 clutch? What are the differences between the 4th gen and 5th gen clutches?

I have REDLINE GL4 and my new SS clutch line to go in as well, but I'm curious as to why use a 5th gen clutch kit...?

the 5th gen clutch kit is said to grip better while still feeling stock, plus the realiability of oem parts. You can use the 00-01 clutch kit on your car. The only difference is the 5th gen clutch kit will bite a little harder and is said to be a little grippier.

so for ~$200 good price for a stock clutch that can take a good amount of punishment.

I just installed a 5th gen kit in my car and i love it. It has a light pedal feel and the grip is amazing. I highly recommend it. It is like a stage 1 with a stock pedal feel

For those looking for more technical information, the stock 4th gen clutch pressure plate has around 1200 lbs. of clamping pressure. The 5th gen is a little over 1400 lbs., so it is a better clutch all around. You can't go wrong with it for a stock replacement unless you are putting down some serious power.

Thanks MDeezy and all for your help with this. Question: when you say OEM 5th gen clutch, do you mean one from Nissan or from another third party?
