Couple knock sensor questions

Finally got my new KS yesterday. I started working on it today. After a little work I got the bolt out. I am now at the point of trying to get the old KS off the plug. I couldn't get it off before I lost sunlight so I put everything away to finish tomorrow. It looks like there is a metal clip that holds the plugs together, do I have to remove that?

Also, once I have the new one back in place how tight do i have to make the bolt? I don't know how tight I will really be able to make it since I have barely any leverage at all to do it.

i just finished changing mine today.. look at the new KS and you'll see where the harness connects to it. yes, that metal clip needs to come off.. i took a flat head and broke a part of the haarness =\ o well, the KS is still secured in so it's all good.
i just did hand tightened and then some.... don't forget to reset the ECU. good luck.

hand tighten it or , snug + 1/4 turn if you don't have torque wrench.. do not OVERTIGTHEN as you may damage KS...

I used a very small flat head screw driver to remove the metal clip. Once the clip moved a little , I took it off with my fingers. The harnes connector is easily broken so you have to be very careful.

After you install the new sensor, tighten it as Digitized said.

Then reset the ecu

i did the same as everyone else, took a jewelers screw driver and popped off the little metal clip then used and open end wrench and tightened up the bolt since i didn't feel like taking off the intake manifolds to get the correct torque action on it.

I broke part of the plastic clip trying to remove the metal pin...
I spent more time on the clip then the actual removal of the KS.. hahaha

but now I know how to change KS without damaging nothing..
and I got small girlie hands, so me can do it in 5 minutes ( provided the engine is cold).. lol

Cool thanks guys.

I thought I had small hands but it was still really tight getting it in there. They really could have picked a better spot to put that but I guess since they don't break too frequently they didn't think it necessary. If I have to change it again, seeing as how I am at 298K now, that would probably mean I would be over 400K which would be a pretty sweet thing.

Finished it up today. Code 0505 I will say that the 45 minutes I spent doing my KS was more frustrating than anything I encountered doing my clutch.

It definitely led to a very nice increase in pull at low RPMs though I am quite satisfied with that. If I get a little better gas mileage that is even better.
