steering rack is shot... so is the fuel tank
I've read here about someone replacing the steering rack and also a DIY apparent somewhere. I think a re-man rack was used and was wondering if that person coudl chime in and see how the progress has been. I'd def appreciate the feedback.
also I'm getting this annoying annoying intermittent fuel smell. always happens when filling up the tank. once in a while in the morning I'll smell it, and sometimes I won't, no matter what the temperature. hoses are fine, had a reputable shop check out the lines going to the tank and fuel pump under the bench seat checked out too. all lines are dry. shop owner stated there's rust in between the two halves and the leak seems to be around the top area of the fuel tank. now I've read of fuel lines gettin old, but a fuel tank rusting enough for fuel to leak?
if anyone has good sources. lmk
ironic thing is my rad support is rust-free *knock on wood*

not sure if you want to try it or not, but if your steering is very stiff empty the resevoir and fill it with some Seafoam Transtune. Loosened my steering right up and $7 vs $600 for a new rack si good enough for me. Flush the old fluid out first and then put in the transtune and new ATF.

rack isn't stiff, but I've been trying to track down this cluttering noise for about a year, replaced every suspension-wise down to the endlinks and the rack is the last culprit. started to leak too.
