True cost of HID kits? $30USD?!

I recently bought and installed a HID kit on my max, however the thing that bothers me is the insurance on the shipping package. It was for $30USD was the seller just being stupid? or are they really that cheap to produce? From the box I think it was made in Korea/Taiwan. I guess I'll keep the seller private, I don't know why but I guess it's out of respect since the product is of good quality. If anyone could shed some light on this for me, it would be nice.

I'm kind of confused, what exactly was $30? The insurance or the actual product?

$30 was the declared value for customs (if it came from overseas) and insurance. He could have done it so you dont get killed with duties (if it came from overseas) or he could have indicated his real cost of production. He also could have been really cheap and didnt want to pay extra for more insurance.

$30 probably is close to the true cost.

And much do you really think it cost Denso and these other companies to produce OEM equipment??

He most likely stated 30 for custom reasons to avoid high cost and fees. Its done all the time.
