first, pull up the trim around your shifter. be gentle and pull straight up. the clips will pop out. unplug the cig lighter. next, take a flathead and pry out your center vents/clock. again be gentle and pry it straight out towards you. not up, not to the side. next, take a phillips screw driver. open up your ash tray and to the left of the tray is one phillips screw. take that out and pull out the ash tray (the ash tray will not come out unless the door is in the open position). dont forget to unplug the light in there. next unscew the 4 phillips screws holding in the rado housing. 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. all by the corners. the whole thing is now ready to come out. unplug your climate control and radio etc.

Not sure about a how-to but all you have to do is:
Remove the trim around the shifter and that should expose a screw to remove the ash tray, take that out and then remove the two screws holding the bottom of the radio trim/chassis.
Then, pull out the Hazard/R. Defrost switch/ Vent panel. It just has clips so you have to pull on it. I thought I was going to brake(break?) mine.
Once you get that out there are two more screws holding the top of the radio trim/chassis piece and voala.
That should be it.
That is all I can remember but if I left something out or if anyone has any tips, feel free.

One of the Bose repair companys had instructions posted on how to remove the radio and speakers. I spent a few mins looking but only found a site that wanted to charge (wtf) for the info. Search around for Bose repair, you might get lucky.

i know how to install cd players but with the maxima it's very hassling and frustrating because i think it's alot of unneccesary work that needs to be done and im never too cheap with my max so i paid my buddies at best buy to do it for me because they had all the tools with the bose i would advise to get it professionally done

There's an install doctor about it. Look in the "change the color of your clock" how-to thread.
