Maxima vs Hondas and Acuras
hey fellas i need your honest opinion... i will never change from a maxima but are hondas accord(01 vtec) and acura's (95 GS type 2 motor) really faster than maxima's after performance??? i really hate them... what are some EXCELLENT performance parts other than intake headers and ecu upgrades for maxima's??? i need it to be done by this friday or saturday.......................................... ...
ill put it like this... you guys spend $800(without installation) on performance for me .... Thanks

I'm still new to the aftermarket game, but for the most part I think 800 will only get you so much.
Best bet would be a y-pipe, a good one i believe the prices are between 150 and 200.
Next i think is the catback, that may run you between 400 and 500
Both of those give you approximately 20-30 extra horses, should give you jolt from regular stock.
That may leave you with only 100 lol. But for our year (I have a 95 also) the y-pipe is the most significant, but once again i'm still a n00b =)

"EDIT: saw other posts after posting this one. Post your mods, transmission, their mods and transmission!"
well ive beaten a 97 GSR (4 Door Integra MT) pretty easily. it depends on what is on the accord and integra, transmission, driver ability, etc.
but for 800 get a y-pipe for sure, thatll take you back around 200/250 dollars.
then either a catback exhaust/HAI/PRCAI (Place racing Cold Air Intake)/Dry 50 Shot/ECU/or Underdrive Pully. These are all relatively easy and inexpensive mods that most can do.
out of your price range id suggest MEVI or 00VI (forms of variable intake MEVI-Middle Eastern Variable Intake, 00VI-Variable Intake system found in the VQ30DE-K). and forced induction.
With these quick and easy mods, assuming you are a good driver, and hopefully a manual transmission, you should have a good race. I dont know what the others have, list their mods please.

you can try and get a s-afc2 and lean the hell out of ur fuel. I know a guy who got a 17hp increase and 13 lbs of torque on his 5th gen with a good tune. I'm installing mine this weekend and will let u know how i fare after a dyno session.
