99 Five spoke Se wheels on a 97 ES Can model, and what type of cleaner to use on TB ?

2 things :

1) ive been told i have an ES, a canadian model max its a 97 anyone heard of this ES type ? anyways: i found a guy who wants to sell a set of 4 rims, 5 spoke 99 maxima SE rims with 60% tread left on the rubber for $300 canadian, i love the look of the wheels and i want them, i currently have regular 205/65 R15 wheels, the problem: will they fit my 97 with NO problems ? i believe they are a tad bigger. its a long drive he lives in another city and i dont wanna waste my time if they dont fit. Also would my car eat more gas with these marginally bigger rims and tires ?

2) going to clean the TB and MAYBE the IAC valve this saturday, what type of cleaner should i buy ? someone said buy any carburator and combustion chamber cleaner, another said buy specific TB cleaner, AND what should i clean the IAC valve with if i get to do that while i am at it ?

thanx

99 se wheels will fit fine.....the tire size should be 215/55/16 so there will be no difference in overall diameter really....gas milage wont be that different at all.

there is throttle body cleaner at any part store for TB for IAC u can use TB cleaner too i believe

yeah, the es I thought only came in 99. Maybe I'm wrong, but I haven't seen a 97/8 es ever. yours would be the first. Digital odo or analog?
ES was a "canadian" special that usually had the 16inch rims of the se, but none of the options. I believe it came with the se suspension. Supposedly stiffer springs but I can't tell the difference myself.
Usually they had the cloth interior, no moonroof/sunroof whatever you want to call it and most of them were automatic I believe.

there's really not a bunch of information on the es on this forum. what color are your window mouldings? Chrome indicates GXE/GLE black means SE.
In 99... es digital odometer and black window moulding with body colored handles and grill. 97/8 still had the analog odometer.
hope that helps you out.

ok here is what i got in reference to ur post

its a 97 with ABS, regular wheels (hub caps) 205/65/ R15, analogue odometre, CLOTH heated seats, heated and power mirrors, cruise control, ABS breaks, Sunroof (2 way), cruise control, intermittent variable wipers, and a low washer fluid sensor. got it all except no spoiler, no for lights, and no rims and no leather.

it is an Automatic, my window mouldings are silver, my door handles are silver on the outside but black (just as the interior) on the inside. on my insurance slip it says 1997 nissan maxima ES/GXE i gave them my VIN so u r telling me they dont even know for sure ?????? i duno what kind of suspension she has, but SHE CAN CORNER LIKE CRAZY, i used to have a 97 dodge neon a while back and that car sits very VERY low and it can corner FAAAAST, well this mid size sedan BEATS IT HANDS DOWN, the maxima i have can corner QUICK. i will not spill a drink in my hands. it DOES NOT LEAN WHILE CORNERING, i was amazed, and i still wanna get a front tower strut bar HAHA, i cant stop !!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, that's hard to believe if you're running the stock suspension. Even on the stiffer SE springs it felt like I was driving an SUV til I got my illuminas.

and i still say my suspension is the stiffest i ever had, im not saying its SE type suspension, i am still trying to figure that out, all im saying is that i LIKE IT, no harm in that bro

The ES usually comes with 16's. Mine did. The ES has the SE suspension setup. Comes with cloth interior,no sunroof and no Bose audio. Besides that, everything else is similar to the SE model.

Leads me to believe you've got a rare gxe. Chrome window trim with 15" steelies. My money would be on the gxe. Of all the 99es's that I've seen, they all had "es" on the trunk and came with the 16" 5 spokes. Not too many gxe's came with the sunroof, but it could be found. I know of one in Edmonton, but that one's a 95. The thing that's throwing me off is the heated cloth seats. I"m just not sure. Maybe there was a limited number of es's in 97?
The int. wipers and low washer fluid sensor are part of the canadian package. Same with the heated/power mirrors. You will have limited slip in the tranny where as the most Americans didn't get that stuff. Maybe your car has been lowered with sport springs? That will help with the cornering.
Post up a picture and we'll see

to post pictures, you need to upload the picture to www.photobucket.com and then copy the [img] file. paste it in here and then your good. That should work for you.
To check for limited slip.... it's easy really... punch it on a loose road. If you get 2 tire marks your golden. only one... no limited slip. Around edmonton right now, we've got weather in the + side and it's melting the snow. The sand that is left on the road is perfect for trying this out. Don't hit it for too long though cause you will do some damage to your tranny.
A few seconds will suffice.
All Canadian models should have limited slip and cold weather package. heated mirrors and low washer fluid indicator. Heated seats wasnot included in this package.
Hope that helps you out... if you need help with the photobucket thing, shoot me a pm and I can host the pictures for you.
regards

oh and buy the way, I've got a child and my car is no where near stock (cosmetically anyway)
h&r, kyb, unorthodox udp, stillen intake, CE spoiler and taillights, tint (all the way) paradox mirror covers, autometer oil press. and volt guage and dual pod. B&M STS, braided stainless steel brake and clutch lines, x-drilled and slotted rotors, ceramic pads, stillen front lip on order and awaiting shipping and then paint, 18*8 Konig forged 17lbs rims and falken ziex 512 tires, fstb, addco rear sway bar, compustar 8000 2 way remote, 300zx feul filter, dc clear marker lights and signal lights, poly bushings for the lower subframe, lower sway bar end links and front sway bar bushings. I want to order the motor mounts also but $$$ and there is some other crap I cant remember... In feb. I'm gonna order the cattman rear section muffler and start getting the exhaust together.
so, having kids really is no indication of weather or not the car is modded... Also, my wife's car is a 2003.5 MazdaSpeed Protege.
yeah, we like fast cars driven slowly... it's more fun.
