I dont' think getting a plug n play kit would help any. You need to have full functioning lights before you hook it up. If they don't work now, HID's won't work either. My HID kit just plugs into the light socket, plug and play. That is why you need them to work.

if its a short in a wire, the fix could be as easy as cut the wire and soldering in a new one, or even bandaging the old

They are from ebay. So pretty much the same as CE but cheaper. Look on ebay, you may find some. The new R34 headlights are kind of taking over though.

make a relay connecting the power directly to the battery and use the good bulb socket as the switch...should cost no more than $20

2k Maxima - Melted Connecter on Factor Headlight

I seem to also have a melted connected for my factory original headlights; no idea how I could melt factory connector on factory bulb. Regardless, I now need to figure out where/how to replace the stock connector; my dealer tells me he can't get the connector only (a pigtail)....he can only get the entire friggin' harness @ $1200+. Can you say RIP-OFF!!!. I'm going web shopping....

HID KIT DOES NOT REPLACE FACTORY HARNESS! Don't be foolish, the HID kit will only make it worse. The ballasts from a HID system require constant, steady power or else your bulbs will flicker like strobe lights. In this case, you bulbs and ballasts will both fail shortly and you would have wasted $200-300 on the HID kit and still be stuck with a shorted out harness. This is on top of the fact that plug and play HID kits without a relay harness may cause the factory wiring to melt. Even with a relay harness, your headlamp wiring doesn't seem to produce enough juice to steadily keep the ballasts properly powered. There is no way around except to replace the factory wiring harness or if you know anyone proficient enough to wire your own harness around the existing failed wiring. Any shop that installs aftermarket foglights can help you bypass your factory wiring.

You need the male 9004 plug but this is ONLY if your connector is melted and the rest of the wiring is still good.
