KYB GR-2 Maintenance Questions

Fellas, sorry, new to this on a Maxima. It's strange that different strut companies require different mounts, and that all springs (stock or aftermarket) don't fit all struts for the same car....I'm used to my Volvo 850 where all the struts and shocks are the same design (although different companies and different valving)...so, mounts and spring seats are the same for any suspension you put on it!

Anyway, back to the Maxima...I have KYB GR-2 on all four corners from the previous owner...don't plan on changing them since they are a year old.....however, front left is creaking/clicking when turning....sway bushings look good, control arms look good, rack rods look good, axles are cherry, so I've pretty much narrowed it down to mounts or bushings....might as well replace both.

what do I need to get for the KYB GR-2 struts as far as the mounts and bushings are concerned?

I'm also going to lower the car, what spring kits will fit? I like the Ground Control idea, but I emailed them, and they say they dont make a kit for the GR-2 struts/shocks....is this true? Any other coilover sleeve kits out there in the $300 range?

Appreciated.

GR-2s are horrible...you will kill them in a matter of months if you use them with Ground Controls...and GC will work with the GR-2s just get the ones made for KYB struts....there are no different mounts required for any of the struts available for the Maxima...only between different generations....all aftermarket springs for 95-99 maximas will fit any strut made the for 95-99 maxima...KYB sells bearing and mounts for the front struts...back ones if ur going to lower get Ben's Mounts......FYI all 4 corners ride on struts...a shock would be independent of the spring.....and the bearing is a crappy plastic ring that has a slick surface...poor design IMO

you can reuse everything from your current setup. but as the other poster said, KYB's suck. Factory replacements are Tokico (it even says it stamped on the strut right below Nissan).

appreciate the responses, looks like I'll be swapping out the struts then.

who is Ben, and are the bearings/mounts poly or what?
