Got in a small accident, need advice.

So I was driving along a 45mph street in the left lane. A Neon was alongside me, about a half a car length ahead. The person in front of him starts to slow down and he comes over...I slam on brakes + horn, but he still dents my passenger side fender.

As you can see it's nothing serious...which presents my problem. He admitted it was his fault, and since it's not that serious he agreed to pay full repair price if we didn't call cops, so I didn't, I just got his name + number and left.

Wrong move.

Now there's the chance he won't pay, and now I don't have a case. What else can/should I do if he doesn't pay?

I suppose just file a report with the police, and report it to your insurance. I'm not sure what else you could do... Possibly hire a mafia type to threaten to break his legs...

You should have called the cops, even if you don't want to get insurance companies involved. I would call the guy and set something up immediatly. If he left faulty info, or doesn't want to do so right away, i would file an accident report through the local police. Dont wait tho...

He got your wheel as well. Make sure you get him to pay for that as well.

That was just a tire mark, a little wheel cleaner and a wet rag and i got it all off. There's no actual damage to the wheel.

Thanks for the advice guys.

u dont just take his name and number, u take his INSURANCE AND DRIVERS LICENCE numbers down and then if he doesnt pay u call ur insurance company

here in toronto Ontario we have 48 hours to report the accident to a collision centre, after which the insurance companies take over, if it is serious then u call the cops on the spot

if u dont have any of his real information and if i was him, i would screw u over

other than that, find out where he lives email me the address and ill break his legs, then u can take his neon and drive it cause he wount be able to HAHA

Ok, well if he doesn't pay, a fender is cheap, getting it sprayed may cost you $100-200.

I've been in the same situation but i did call cops they usually dont report accident to insurance company. You should've done that. If he doesn't pay you i would suggest to go find him and politly ask to pay..... well if he says no you know what to do.

IMO, If you dont get a hold of him or if he doesnt pay then you might as well take care of it yourself. The hassle and money being spent taking it to court would not be worth it even if you do win, and the police most likely wont do anything.
