Timing chain question???
I read somewhere that the VQ engines do not require the replacement of the timing chains. I currently have 181,000+ miles on my 96 with the stock chains. Is this true that they do not ever need replacing?? I appreciate it guys

Unless it is making excessive noise, there is no real need to replace it. They are made to last the life of the engine. When you start to hear noise, it could hint to you that the chain is starting to go.

nissan recommeneds you change it at 100k and 200k. im changing my water pump b/c it is leaking, so i figured i might as well do the timing chain while i got that side of the engine apart, but i mean if its not making noise, then theoretically you dont HAVE to change it, but 181k is a lot, so you should prob consider it soon.
