whats up,
im new to this forum. im originally from upstate (poughkeepsie) ny, but am currently living with my older bro in nyc (union square). i'm a senior at duke university in durham, nc.
anyway, my parents own a 97 super black SE and a 99 red SE limited, both of which i convinced them to purchase. after my internship for the summer got downsized due to the crappy economy, my plans to cop a 91-95 ac legend coupe basically fell through but my parents said i can take one of their maximas back to school with me in the fall. so....
what mods should i get and from where? im new to the maxima aftermarket....im only familiar with stillen products. i'm lookin for the basic performance mods....intake, exhaust, etc. some cosmetic mods would be nice too.
in particular, where can i get the red/clear tails? the following ones look very clean, the pic is of calsonicse's car: http://images.cardomain.com/installs...167_4_full.jpg
also, where to get the front clear bumper lenses.
thanks, in advance, for any help.

The best way to get the clear tails is to make them yourself. Search around and you'll find numerous how-to articles.
Get the clear front corner lights on eBay. Go for the "diamond cut" version. Also, dont pay more than $50 shipped for these.
Any more questions?

since the general sentiment seems to be that stillen's prices are absurd/unreasonable, would you not recommend ordering from them?
is custommaxima.com a reliable source for parts?
finally, the first thing i want to do is lower the car, regardless of which one i get....i dont like that i can fit both my hands between the tire and fender. what lowering mechanism and which brands would you recommend for the maxima?
thanks again, -v-

For Performance - do you have an auto or manual tranny? If manual go with the pop charger intake, if auto go with a Cold air intake(place racing has a good one). Definatley get a Y-pipe and a new cat. A b-pipe will give some performance but the y-pipe and cat will each give you more than the b-pipe will.
As for Stillen - I would order(and have) from them reguardless of what people say about the price. I believe that they are a superior build/quality and are made by a guy who use to race 300 Z's.

dont forget
www.eatricezone.com
alot of good deals on performance parts, with great customer service... and also a great deal on brakes right now

I agree with the above, CustomMaxima.com is a great place to by great mods. He even has a great deal on eibach springs that lower the car 1.3 inches in the back and 1.5 in the front. Also check the parts for sale forum on this board and the group buy forum. There is alway something you might want on there. Good luck and happy modding.

i'll be looking into the various lowering options over the next few weeks...of course, i cant do anything until the car is safely in my hands and i am far from my parents (at school
). i also liked the look of the interior neons that one of the members had inside their max. springs (or coilovers), window tint, and some interior lighting options will be my first mods. i cant do anything too elaboate exterior-wise otherwise i'm afraid my parents wont let me take it back in the spring after they see what i've done.thanks again for all the responses, theyve been extrememly helpful.

Clear Corners
You can get the diamond-cut clear corner from www.custommaxima.com . Its a little more but there's no bidding involved and you know you will own them. Plus, its nice to promote a fellow Maxima enthusiant. But buy them from wherever you like - just try to get rid of the ugly orange corners like I am.
