I think I can figure this out but it would be nice Sprint if you post what type of switch you used and where did you buy it. Or just send me a PM chances of me ever going to CT are very slim to none.

get a spst (single pole single throw) switch. i believe that is what you need since it is a regular on off switch. we (i work at Radio Crack) carry every type of switch possible. get a light up one so you know if its on or not

wouldnt it be possible to find out what the signal coming from the pink/blue wire is both below and above the limiter, and then hook up a resistor of an appropriate value inline (to make it think youre rolling, but going slow), so you'd avoid the switch, and it would never hit the limiter, or activate the ce light?

You would need a frequency generator that kept the signal to the ECU below the limited speed.

I have a 98' SE 5spd, and I have hit about 205km/h or just under 130mph, and I have never had a limiter come on.

BTW, for you top speed junkies out there, my Volvo easily does 265km/h or about 165mph. It is only limited by the automatic gearing. And even with that tall last gear, I still pull 1/4 times in the low 14's on 205/50/16 tires on just 15psi. When I up it too 18psi, I have run a couple high 13's before. Gotta love boost.

Now for the write up:
________________________________
4th Gen Maxima Speed Limiter Removal
The ECU monitors the transmission mounted speed sensor to determine vehicle speed. When the vehicle speed limit is reached, the ECU cuts the fuel flow to the engine to slow the car.
The signal path for the vehicle speed sensor is as follows:
Sensor to Speedometer
Speedometer to ECU & Cruise Control
If the signal is interupted at the actual connection to the ECU, speedometer, odometer and cruise control functions are preserved. The ECU does not recieve a vehicle speed signal, therefore it will not limit the vehicle speed.
This modification is easy. But beware, it does include mutilation of the factory ECU wiring harness...not for the sqeamish.
1.Disconnect negative battery terminal.
2.remove ECU cover from passenger side footwell.
3.Loosen bolt in center of main ECU connector.
4.Unplug main ECU connector.
5.Remove snap-on plastic cover from ECU connector.
6.Locate PINK wire with BLUE stripe. (this wire is located on the right half of the connector when plugged in)
7.Cut PINK/BLUE wire.
8.Reassemble ECU connection.
9.Reconnect negative battery terminal.
10.Drive 140mph.
This modification will cause the "check engine" light to illuminate. If you check the codes, you will get 0104 (Vehicle speed sensor fault) and 0504 (A/T conrtrol unit fault). So far there have been no drivability problems
associated with this mod.
Enjoy.

two wires?
i have two wires with the same color code. is it the one closest to the center bolt or the one furthest from it?
both wires are pink with blue stripe and have two sliver dots. one is closer to the center than the other.

just read the meat of the thread one more time and i am assuming that ben and sprint mean the pink and blue wire on the right side of the side of the connector itself.
meaning the one on the left is still on the right side of the connector.

Update:
Now BOTH of my radio shack 25 amp automotive toggle switches have broken. I had one for the speed limiter and one for the tranny's dropping resistor. On both of them, the toggle just snapped off. It's not like I was flipping them back and forth all the time either.
Anyone know of a decent toggle switch? Or maybe a rocker switch that will fit on the hole for the coin tray in my 1995 console....??

Theres a write up of this at Maximadriver.com from what I remember it explains everything.
