I do not have any problems with steering but this costs 10 dollars so why not ?!
I saw several ATF fluids at a nearby wal-mart, a brand called tech2000 (i think) i never heard of it, i saw Valvoline ATF, and Valvoline High mileage ATF.
They are all Dexron III but which one is best for PS ?
The high mileage ATF states it has some detergents in it to help clean the system or something like that. i am leaning against this as i dont want detergents in my PS. Deciding between brand names and cheapest brand i never heard of is kinda tricky.

You;re right....Dexron III is the proper fluid for power steering in the Max. I would agree with your thoughts to stay away from the detergents in the "high mileage" ATF. Maybe it would be best to use a good quality Dexron ATF and stick with it

Just go with Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. That's what i used to change my ATF with as well as the power steering. Works well, a HQ product!
Just make sure you disconnect the hoses going into the reservour so that you can get rid of more old fluid!

I dont know about synthetic Mobil 1, switching to synthetic this late in the game (209 KM) could prove to be a mistake, since i am going to be mixing old and new fluid i rather stick to regular Dexron III, but which brand name is best for my PS application ? (I have pretty much ruled out any type of oil dubbed "high milage" for their additive package)

I do it at every oil change. you can only suck out about 6-8 ounces at a time. then top off with fresh, and do it again at your next oil change. or if it's really dirty do it a few times in a row with 50 miles of driving in between, and then do it every oil change. you get the idea...

what do u do with the old fluid ? i dont want to flush it down the drain lol can it be recycled ? (but i dont want to pay anyone to recycle it im a cheapo!)
when u replace the fluid like this do u actually feel any difference in steering ? or this is just preventative maintenance ?
