Hi all,

My '96 Max has a braking problem. The issue is when very cold like -20C, and the car sits overnight outside, after the car starts and I wish to back out of the driveway, I can't depress the brake pedal to stop. It seems frozen. I keep pressing on the brake pedal about 5 to 10 times (hard) and it eventually releases and works fine for the rest of the day. Now its a ritual during very cold mornings, I just start the car, leave it in park, and press the pedal until it releases. I have flushed the brake fluid twice over the past year and it does look clean. I don't believe there is any moisture in the brake system, but I'm not sure what else it can be. Any ideas...?

What type of brake fluid are you using?

What ever the owner's manual recommends. I believe its Dot 3.

I only got that once this winter, but it nearly caused me to hit a parked car (not cool!) But depressing it a 2nd time loosened it up and i haven't had that happen again. It happened when i didn't let the car warm-up!!! From then on, i let i warm up for a least 3 minutes and i haven't had any issues. BTW, On that occasion, the steering was hard to turn as well (i have fresh ATF in there). JUST LET THE CAR WARM UP ABIT!!!
