hey i am looking at cold air intakes and i really dont want to spend $160 on a cold air intake so i did some searching and found this one. My questions is what style cold air intake is this Injen, or Place Racing? Will i have to cut a hole in the fender like you do for Place Racing cold air intakes?
Thanks

O alright, sounds good. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't an injen intake they seem like a waste to me because its just sucking up warm air from the engine bay.
Thanks for the help!!

short rams suck up hot air (& i live in the mojave desert), but i wouldn't say they're a waste.

That intake is fine, plus it has a k&n filter......not a cheap a$$ e-bay filter

They are suppose to do that though, the injen cold air intakes are suppose to suck up cold air they might as well call these short ram intakes with a long tube and a bend.

On that website they had another one exactly the same without the k&n filter, and i was impressed until i scrolled down, and saw it with a k&n filter that kind of sealed the deal. I was just making sure it was a true cold air intake!!

You may have actually stumbled on a pretty good deal there... Looks to be pretty high quality, and for that price it's a steal since it includes a brand new k&n filter.

To tell if it's a PR sytle or an Injen style, look at the midpipe. The PR one has a straight midpipe while the Injen one has a curved and bent midpipe.

how many times can this be asked!?!?! Mod just closed an intake question a week ago. Do some damn research. It's rediculous. Any real CAI has to be cut through the fender wall! If it's in the bay then it's a HAI. End of story. Get any ebay intake that has the piping to go through the fender or make your own thats it. You won't gain any more hp with one made at home with pipes or the $200 place racing.

I think the OP had a legit question, he knew what intake he wanted but didn't know how to tell the difference between and Injen style or PR style intake from a picture so he did the logical thing, he asked. What's so wrong with that? Besides, what would we talk about if there were no intake, exhaust, or strut/spring threads?

Well, he has his answer now:

Aren't both kind of intakes you mentioned going to be bent? An Injen will be bent closer to the TB and then curved down towards the front of the car, whereas a PR Style CAI will be bent more towards the fender since it will have to be curved to drop down into the fender.

I was just talking about the midpipe (the smaller pipe) and you are right that the longer cold air piping are both bent.
