How come those shocks look a lot like KYB AGX (the adjustable part at least)? Does KYB make shocks for the Maxima?

They are KYB shocks. Brian Catts custom fit Eclipse shocks to a Maxima. I think they're Eclipse shocks. There is no AGX for a maxima right now, but they are supposed to be coming out next spring or so.

Damn how hard is it to custom because I had AGX on my last ride and LOVED them to death, but paying $1500 for a coilover kit that's based on $400 shocks is ridiculous. Please tell me he's not using GC's as the spring and perch rig?

It's not ridiculous. GC coilovers will cost you $400. Throw in the shocks for $500. Now throw in camber plates for $300. You're up to $1200. Now figure out labor to custom fit the shocks to the coilovers, what's the grand total going to be? I paid $1350 for my cattman coilovers to my door, assembled and ready to bolt on. Compared to the extra effort of trying to get shocks with the GC coilovers, I think it's a pretty good deal.

Where did you get them for $1350? Also, what is this "clunking" issue? I thought that was only with eibach or intrax springs, or the ground control coilovers....

First of all, any shop including myself can install GC's on any shock. I don't know what this custom crap you're talking about is. If all he's usijng is KYB AGX and Eibach springs that happen to be mated to each other, than I don't think it's worth it. Also, you only need camber plates if you're gonna drop more than 2"

Um... Yeah, you can install GC's on any shock, but you can't install any shock on any car. That is the problem you see, the only shocks available for our car are stock, tokico HP's, and KYB GR2's. KYB AGX's and Koni Sports both require some custom work to get them to work and so far Cattman has only been able to mod the AGX's to work when used in conjunction with a coilover. They are AGX's with Eibach Pro springs and adjustable camber plates. My whole point is that for what the kit gives you, it's a good price especially considering it's the only way to get AGX shocks currently without doing your own custom work. If you don't want everything included in the kit (i.e. camber plates) then don't buy it. If you don't think it's worth the money, don't buy it. Pretty simple really.

I personally wanted AGX shocks with good springs and adjustable camber plates. I didn't really want/need coilovers, but it was the easiest way to get a good suspension, and added all up it cost me maybe $100 more than a simliar setup would have been on an accord with all the parts available. To me it was well worth it. If it's not to you, don't buy them.

THen how come everyone says get GC's and Konis. If it's impossible to do then why is everyone on the board saying to do it?

Who said it was impossible? I said it requires modifications. Supposedly it's not too hard, the fronts just have to be modified to fit in sleeves. I think there's a thread on that in the general forum.

Cattman Coilovers

FYI the springs used on these setups have been Carrera from Atlanta. I know because the springs on my coilovers had grey powder coating and they peeled, so I sent them back to Carrera and they replaced them with chrome springs. Too bad they are hidden because they sure look nice.

But all it is is KYB and Eibach springs, you guys keep saying that it's CUSTOM designed. Tein and Cusco Coilover kits are ABSOLUTELY custom not just a hybrid of off the shelf products. I understand how you feel about the coil overs though. It all depends on how much GC + Koni is going to cost me.

Last I heard he was having trouble getting the Carrera's but more importantly, did you get your car back yet?

They're Carrera's? I always just assumed they were Eibach Pro springs... Mine were funky, the front ones were painted blue which flaked off real easy, and the rears were chrome which seemed well painted... Who knows, it doesn't bother me since no one is looking at my springs anyway...
