Hey everyone, I was wondering if you could give me some tips for painting clear tails. I have a 96 Max, and I'm thinking of buying some clear tails and painting the bottom lens red. Not really sure on how to do this though. Easiest way to remove lens? Reattach? what kind of paint? or other material? I liked the altezzas UNTIL I saw them on a max, and things changed. I really like the red/clear combo on but their hard to find for a 96. Any tips for this process would be greatly appreciated. Have a good one.

You can do it two ways paint the inside or paint the outside of the brake lens. I chose to paint the outside so that there would be no clear border around the red painted portion. It's also easier but will eventually fade. I've had mine for over two years and it's just now starting to fade. That's easily fixed by painting them again. I used Testors - transparent candle apple red model paint and used many thin layers with a clear coat on top. Whatever you decide to do make sure you mask everything you don't want painted off really well and that you use thin layers so you won't get any running of the paint.
