Is it really worth to mod a auto?

For me personally, I like driving stick and just prefer to have a stick car. Mostly importantly, I also think the manual transmission in a maxima is what makes this car so unique to others of the same generation. There was no other inexpensive japanese built 4-door 6cyl sedan with manual tranny.

My town is famous for being the town that's fastests cars are The honda civic. AND some kind of saturn. All of which have a massive muffler, And they all belive they can beat you. A kid in a civic once asked if he wanted to race. After I said, uhm. sure, he responded with. actually I can't race you. My cars WAY to light i'll slide. I said, okay...? How much, "Bout 900" I say WHAT?! 900 pounds? I look in his car and all he has removed are his seats. Uhmm.... His seats must be like some form of Brick and Metal
i like auto alot and i will do as much mods possibles, whether it's tv's, audio, looks, and especially performance, i was thinking of getting a manual maxima but i really dont see why i need it, i dont race that much, i do 75% more regular driving, i was just gonna do the 3.5 swap auto, and tell all you modded Manuals to holla at me on any track

( cold air intake, y-pipe, hi flow cat, exhaust, 00VI, ecu upgrade, crank pulley, and maybe a supercharger i cant tell a difference and run low 14's maybe high 13's
Obviously people will always argue if its stupid to put performance into an auto. Truth is that I don't see why not. If it's your car and you want to make it faster so be it. I'm still waiting to see dyno's of people with exactly the same mods to the car (1 auto, 1 5spd), and see the difference. I know holding control over the tranny is great but some people just don't care. I feel like most posts about this subject are somewhat ignorant because people don't care about opninions. Opinions are opinions and people will not agree. I still don't understand why it needs to turn into insulting people (in this case) for wanting to mod an auto. I think the idea of adding performance to the car to make it a little faster on the street is fine but if you have a car you want to track more often and still use it as DD, manual is the way to go IMO. I don't track at all so modding my auto is strictly to make it faster for me. I don't care if it can beat anyone elses car. I just don't want to throw down a couple g's to make it fast when the auto can only do so much. That's why 3.5 swap would really be out of the question for me (grand_hustle17, remember that 3.5 on the 4spd auto is not advised).
So after rambling for so long I still think that this is one of those issues that will never be resovled and it truely depends on what you want to do with the car. Yes manuals are more fun to drive cause you can play with it, but I still enjoy driving my auto every day. Sometimes after driving friends manuals, I like to go back to the auto. It's all personal taste and I don't think that people should be attacked for that.

My auto shifts faster and harder - and more consistently - than any manual tranny, IMHO.... And really low 13s in the quarter show it.

Damn low 13's? Thats nice, but you run nitros though don't you? It's pretty hard to get an automatic to run low 13's thats N/A. Cash is defenatly required..

I tried to get some info on doing the 5spd auto swapped into the 4th gen with the 3.5 but nobody got back to me and I'm sure the ecu would be a problem. Anyways....more info in the AM forum if you need it.
You gotta be kidding - look in "timeslips" somewhere at the top for Jime - 4th gen 3.5L automatic. I'm 11th, I think...
As I recall, the 5th gen auto IS the 4th gen auto - now the 6th gen auto has possibliities, but no VLSD FTL... why bother?
The 4th gen auto is tough. Mine has survived two seasons on the strip, and still squeals the M&H slicks going into third gear.
I went back and checked the 3.5 thread and you are correct. It says the debate goes on wether the 4spd is strong enough but if it's in good condition it should be ok. So I guess with a fairly new tranny with VB mod and tranny cooler should be ok. Sorry. I guess I read that wrong the first time. Thought it said it wasnt recomended.
grey yours is a DD right?

Usually - it's been sitting since the blizzards began - my air intake is below the car, so I don't want to suck snow and salt into the Ingen...
I drive my tow truck instead.
i have a 5spd and i love it and my grandma has a auto i see that my manual is way faster then the auto but i still think that the auto is not a bad car to put mods on i mean the good thing about having a auto is that they wil not have the clutch problems and the cold start ****ing probs that i have now my car stays in the shop fixing sumthing with that manual but that is prob cuz my car sat in a lot for 10 months but that is just my opinion

Grand_Hustle, I've always been ok with modding auto's. It's your car and you can still make it pretty damn fast as an auto.

Can this thread end already.
Is it worth modding an auto to make it faster for personal driving? Yes.
Is it worth modding an auto to get the fastest 1/4 mile time if you shift correctly? No.
If you prefer an auto for personal reasons then it's worth modding.
If you DON'T prefer and auto for personal reasons then it's NOT worth modding.
It's not that complicated.

Obviously it can be put on two different ways :-\
