i just changed mine couple days ago.. super easy to do, just used 9" extension with a swivel and i think 12mm 1/2 inch socket or 3/8 wich ever one ... and was easy... puttin the new sensor in i could just barely force my hand down in there to put the bolt on hand tight and then from there it was a breeze no cuts or scrapes !!! didn't notice a huge difference in gettin power back yet.. but i still have to replace 0901 02 sensor Right heated sensor or something.

my knock sensor only cost $60.37 Canadian!!! w00t!!!

A couple of things that helped me do my KS (99 Cali Spec):

1. Remove the airbox, battery and move the swirl control valve forward that 1/2 inch or so- lots of extra room to work with.

2. I had difficulty having the bolt stay in the 12mm UV joint when I tried to tighten it, so I found a small round magnet on a nametag that was laying around. Place the magnet in the UV joint, and voila - the bolt stays where you position it.

3. While you're down there, look for rodent infestation under the manifold. I must have had a family of mice in mine at some point. Used the 'blow' side of the shop vac to get rid of that beast.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help. I order the e-bay knock sensor - $62.90 shipped - it wasn't to bad putting it in with the info from: http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/507
I will say that I left a little skin behind trying to fit my hand under the intake manifold.

I was quoted $468 by a repair shop to replace the sensor. Saving $400 and it only costing me 45 minutes and a little skin - PRICELESS!!!

I have no before and after mileage tests yet because I just changed it. My mileage is probably lower ow because I have a lead foot now. Have fun doing this. took us 3-4 hours!
