Oil change for 96 Cefiro 2.0 V6 : PROBLEM
Oil change for 96 Cefiro 2.0 V6 : PROBLEM
Hi Guys,
Changed the engine oil yesterday.
1) used the engine flush for 5-8 minutes
2) drain oil
3) change oil filter
4) Added oil
I use Castrol Magnatec 10W-40W.
Problem: The engine light is ON.
I used 4L and have just added another 1 litre.
engine light is still on.
Its quite odd as I've done this multiple times before. If I open the engine oil cap, Should I be able to see the oil as I cannot see the oil. May be i need to add more.
i can confirm there is no leak. I just drove it around a block (1K) and it runs fine, its not heating up ( needle is half way - normal i think).
Any bright ideas?
thanks.

Chances are you need a new oil pressure switch. The idiot light does nothing and by the time its on its too late, meaning you would know if it was low on oil. If you have oil in it and experience no abnormal noises you're fine.
2045 hrs - drained about 1.5L of fuel.
cant check the dip stick, its dark but the light is still on
fingers crossed .. i will check again in the morning when its all settled down.
I think i may have broken a wire when changing the oil filter and thats why I like Ceaser's approach of taking the wheel off to get a clear view, will check out tomorrow.
cheers.
