im thinkin instead of painting your hubcaps just leave your hubcaps on how they are and buy some desceant rims, it will look alot nicer and you wont get made fun of.

new rims and tires costs a lot. + i currently have pretty good tires that wil definitely last another year. i was going to get the 99 SE rims (5 star design), but would also have to change the tires so that didnt work out for me.

i understand where your coming from with the price thing, but you know yourself that some new rims would look better, since you have new tires, why not go get some 15X7.5 rims? it's not good to go too cheap on looks

i got 16" se rims. so i sold my steelies with the hubs.

and as for color, i went with this dark metallic grey color. came out too dark IMO. i would say when painting hubs best is to stay with the silver look.

Why don't you just get new wheel covers instead of painting them? In my opinion those honey comb wheels are the ugliest wheels for our cars

Take them off and use them as a frisbee. Paint them red and name them death saw. cut out the border part so it looks like it has spikes. throw them at pedestrians in the park as your driving by.

Like this !

Honeycomb hubcaps? I've never heard of those, only the honeycomb wheel style.
Either way, if you want to spend $10 or so and paint your hubcaps, go for it. It won't hurt you any and it will give you something to do.

That's why I was confused. They are 95-96 gle rims, honeycomb as they have been called. So when the OP said he wanted to paint his honeycomb hubcaps, I was confused.
Yes they are ugly, that's why I don't have them any more.

If you really want new hubcaps buy em. loll.... http://www.hubcaps.org/maxima.html 35 EA baby.

Yeah those are really ugly. Makes your car look like.. Gheyish. IMO I think the stock 97-99 5 spoke rims are some of the best looking rims for the maxima. Just makes it look so smooth. They're like, sporty but not so much.

Honestly, i know where you guys are all coming from, i REALLY WANT those 5 spoke 97 - 99 SE rims, maybe ill check the junk yards for those later on when i have some more loot in my pocket, i really dont wanna invest in rims, they look nice but attract unwanted attention, and having my old car stolen (and watching it afterwards on a camera recording) was not the best moment of my life. So i think when it gets warmer i will try painting my "honeycombs" silver or dark gray or even black colour.

As far as buying new hub caps i did that, spent 20 dollars at wallmart for some ricey looking 5 spoke hubs, but they look so ugly because they have too much space in between the spokes and the steelies are soooo visible. Too bad i lost the receipt.

A guy offered me a set of stolen 5 spoke 99 se rims 4 for 300 or 5 for 350 but i had no money at the moment, the rubber was $hit on those as well so i would have to invest in that also.

Right now i am PRETENDING like i have snow tires on (like many people do) and have just bare steelies. but once it gets warmer i might either paint my hub caps or look for 99 se 5 spoke wheels. I wanna stay as stock as possible because i don't want to attract unwanted attention to my car and also because i dont want to hurt my fuel economy getting heavy A$$ aftermarket rims.

I found my 98 se rims local for $200. They were in excellent condition, so keep your hopes up, you'll find some. Then you'll only need new tires, if the wheels don't have them. You may get lucky there too, and find some with good tread left.
Whatever you end up doing, good luck with it.

Lol. "Acting Like I have snow tires" <--

But yeah go to your local junkyard. usually they will have some stock rims.
Unfortunately My town/outer towns here suck. And I had to end up driving about 300 miles just to find a decent junkyard 98 Maxima. (tis where I got my motor/tranny) The car had all 4 98 SE 5 spoke rims. The guy was willing to sell them to me for an extra 200 tread and all as a deal for when I bought motor and tranny from him. To bad I was pretty much broke at this point. This junked cars in fairly good condition too. The guy that owned it aparently put 9000 miles on it then had it towed to a place. It fell off the back of a lift and, it fell on the back bumber HARD bent that all to hell then just fell over (on its top) so it was layin upside down. So everything in the Front of the car up and on the bottom is MINT. I've gotten most of it. I should just buy that car and part it out!

Sooo. Yeah Maxima parts are usually cheap in a junkyard they just (for me anyways) are hard to find ones that are in good condition. Idk about where you live. Or how bad it is. Park your car in a garage? A neighbors garage. Throw a Car cover over it so nobody even looks at it at night. I think if somebody really wanted to they would steel your hub caps too. If the tires are in good condition. Eh, you can always sell good tires on ebay. And for some reason in my town the #1 stolen car part is Chrome Valve stem caps. I get mine stolen almost literally the night after I put them on. It's BS im about to wait outside with a bat one of these times and when these kids come up just beat em. (Yes over chrome valve caps) They're F-ing spensive when you start buying them almost 2 times a week.o_O

I have invested in an alarm system, Autopage RF-410, but it still doesnt make me all that comfortable after seeing Escalades, Acura SUV's, Pontiac Van's and Hondas of all kinds being stolen from a movie theatre i work at.

PS this is where my 97 Dodge neon was stolen from as well, i watched it get broken into on camera afterwards, the guy went to the front passenger side door, opened it, lied down on the seats, used a flat head screw driver to pop out the ignition switch and use that same flathead to start the car took about a minute and a half from start to finish. After the cops recovered it and i saw this guess how i felt ?

I would be happy. Because Neons are crap IMO. Hopefully you got good insurance $$$ off it. There is really that bad of crime in Toronto? I guess I wouldn't be to worried or scared of the police. Them red suits with the big pockets they wear. Them are goofy.

no jp.

BTW The alarm system you want = http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1107956836212

I've got it. My alarm goes of if someone even so much as throws a snow ball at my car.

Ummm red suits ? thats the RCMP, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, they are the equivalent of your FBI over there in the U S of A. We have normal cops here man in blue or black uniforms depending no what region of the city you are in, and Toronto in the biggest city in Canada consisting of a population of 5 million people. Come on man, we are not on the moon or something

The insurance YESS that saved my parents wallets that time. the car was registered under my dads name and had a leaky engine and a broken tranny, which would not go into reverse when cold and not shift up when cold it was worth about as much as a good remote controlled toy car, but i got $3095 for it. THAT was the good part!

The Neon did NOT have any rims, here is the long list of things i had done to it

1) a mesh grille
2) a CHEAP 90 dollar CD deck by AIWA (owned by sony) which did not even play MP3s (i removed the Decks face plate and put it in the glove compartment before leaving for work
3) i washed the car that day so it was sparkling
4) put tire shine on it
5) filled up a full tank

Dude Notice how at the end I put JP = just playing. I know who the RCMP is and what they're "Police rank is" it was a joke. Furthermore You got lucky getting that much out of a neon. I would be OMG happy that that car got stolen if it was mine. Hell I'd TRY to get it stolen.

How did he get into your car anyways. You make it seem like your doors where unlocked with the quote, " the guy went to the front passenger side door, opened it, lied down on the seats"

That sounds kinda like your doors were unlocked. Furthermore. He pry stole it cause it was all shined up and being an attention *****. Just cause you have rims on your car does NOT mean it's going to get stolen. Any body will steal any car if they really want to. As your friend stole your neon. Which is defenatly not worth stealing IMHO.. So I think you should invest in a BETTER alarm system then buy them stock 97 5 spoke rims. And don't shine those tires up and don't wash your car. Keep it muddy. - Lol
