What a night...

So I'm driving home after seeing my buddy. I'm about 20 mins from my house and I hear a pop and smell paint. **** the can of paint from the body shop popped open on the floor of the rear seat! I pull over and see paint all on the mats and carpet and underneath the seat.

Driving home the smell was horrible I had to drive with the windows open. I got most of it out but there are still a few spots. I tried "Utrech" Odorless paint thinner and some of it did come out. Any other suggestions? Is the smell/odor very harmless? I left all the windows down and the garage door slightly open.

about 2 weeks ago i had a can of pop freeze and explode all over the rear seat. took me about an hour to clean it.

if you cant get yours off i would say get paint thinner and get all of the paint off. whipe the paint thinner off quickly and try putting a good leather cleaner that will help stop the drying out of your leather

Should I just get that portion of my carpet bleached? How about installing a brand new carpet from scratch? How much would that cost?

New carpet would run about $115 - 200+ depending on the upgrade options.

I was going to suggest paint thinner, which would get it out with the quickness, but not sure if it will have a bleaching effect on your carpets and/or seats.

I think the thinner would be fine on the carpets, but not sure about the seats, better safe than sorry I say. If you have a piece of leather from anything laying around, you could test the thinner on that.

You gotta get the stained carpet out. You're probably dying of the fumes, literally. It would be sad and stupid to get so wonked on the fumes that you wreck and kill someone.

If new carpet is only a couple hundred buck I'd go that route. Paying a detailer can't possibly get the same results and it could easily cost as much. Just be thankful the cost isn't higher - some cars cost over a grand for a new carpet.
