Sorry... Another Ypipe thread

ok im ready to buy my full exhaust now
going with the apexi ws2 catback

now i need some advice/help picking the ypipe and the optional "hiflow" cat. my main concern is having no bees in the can sound.

cattman is too rich for me, so its down to
1. budget
2. warpspeed Link to ebay one with cat
3. CE one (currently being offered around forums)

the reason im considering a new cat is because it should make the installation a lot easier? (and it cant hurt putting in a new cat, since my cars got 110k on it) regardless the cat isnt a top priority or even a real concern. price wise the ypipes are all relatively similar i believe. and performance is not gonna vary a lot, so im looking for the one with least problems and no bees in a can sound. thanks a lot

o yea. as a favor to me, dont say something like "go with budget. it rules!" just because you have it. would like some rationale/reasoning. thanks!

haha no I'd also agree that you should get the Budget Y-Pipe. I've heard much better things from it. i.e. weld quality, sound, price.

Dont get a CE one, get either budet or warpspeed and dont bother with a hi-flow cat. hi flow cats do NOTHING, the only reason to get one is if your stock cat is bad and you need a cheap replacement that will still pass smog.

I have run the WSP Y with NO bees in the can sound, but I have heard positive things about all 3 brands that you mentioned.

I also agree with you on going with a new cat, whether it be high-flow or otherwise. It will make install easier, and inevitably if you DON'T change it now your cat will go bad within a week or so of getting things installed. That is just how luck seems to run.

I have a Budget Y that has only been on my car for a few months but I'm strongly considering buying a Cattman just to check it out. If you are interested in a slightly used Budget for a reasonable price PM me.

anybody kno of some good sites or better yet some DEALS!?

seems like changing the cat is not a bad idea. i will be attempting to install the full line from the y to the catback. so not having to deal with rust would be a big plus. any suggestions on where to get the new cat ("hiflow" or not)

Screw the 'deals'. These cars sound like monkey sharts w/ an unequal y-pipe. Convince these companies to start making equal length units like the stillen 1st gen, or sack up and get headers.

You still have to deal with the rust wether you get a new cat or not. I dont know why people think getting a new cat makes the install easier, in fact it means you have to remove two more rusted bolts. If your stock cat is still good, the easiest thing to do is just cut off the stock bolts and use new nuts and bolts on the existing cat. This saves your $100-200 and you dont have to do any extra work and its just as easy as putting in a new cat.

If you want to get a new cat, warpspeed sells them, dont know about anyone else.

Usually (in my experience) the heat has fused the cat to the pipes n both sides of it. It is not always a case of just unbloting it.

I cannot remember- is the 4th gen cat attached by flanges at both ends, or one end, or neither?

There are flanges at both ends. CA weather spoiles me, I guess Ive never had to deal with any that that has been super rusted before.

I think they have a phone # on their site. But to my knowledge, they are not a member here.
