I remember someone here having this same problem. I believe the switch on the door frame that's covered in rubber can be turned or pushed so that the light stays on. Try turning it and see if that fixes the problem.

Check the bulb. Make sure hte button is not sticking.

As for the OP, try to push the button in by hand with the door open. may have to be adjusted or replaced.

i shorted my driver side one ... i had the door open when i went to put a new bulb in (not thinking) and i oopsed and shorted it out,, now it wont work at all... i put and led 197 bulb in there and when i close the door i can see the LED light up a bit... and its realy really dull when the door is open so i assume that i shorted something anyways.

What would the window switch have to do with anything?

It IS the window switch. That window switch assembly is also the relay unit for the entire door. Unfortunately, EVERYTHING in the door ties into it. I blew my passenger window switch by installing an LED in my passenger courtesy light backwards..
The funny thing was, if you put a regular bulb in it, it did nothing. But if you put an LED in it, it didnt light when it was supposed to, and WOULD light when it wasnt supposed to (when both doors were closed).
Long story short.. I was ONE of those 'threads'.. if it works on one side and not the other, replace the window switch on the side that dont work. You can thank us later..

change your swith located by the egde of the door with the rubber housing. i got mine from courtesy nissan for $15 each, (i think) its a philpe head screw you have to remove and the switch comes right out. very easy takes about 5 min.

DJ42o96max, one more question, if it is the window switch causing this would the window switch not work? Becuase mine still rolls the window up and down no problem.

Its not that i dont believe you dude i am one that wants to be sure of things because i can recall a number of times i have been told my problem was something for sure and it wasnt and i was out alot of $$ so you cant blame me for being careful. I was just making sure that the window doesnt have to be inop. just cause the courtesy light is cause if that was the case the window switch would be ruled out. I like to be 100% of what i do before i start taking my car apart. Plain and simple. And where can i get a used one for $10? Cause i was quoted $130 for one of these damn things from my parts guy at work at the dealership i work at.

So im just looking for the power window up and down button for the passenger side (It being the side the door light is burnt out on)

Also, when i do replace this switch and things are working right again, am i supposed to keep the doors closed when i replace the bulbs? Was my mistake leaving the door open letting power get to the lights when i installed the LEDs?

Yes, the window will still work normal.. making you suspect ANYTHING BUT the switch. I'm not sure if what was done wrong was installing with the door open or just the LED going in backwards. Pull the battery cable to plug it in. Pain in the ***, but.. you dont wanna buy 3 switchs do ya?

My dome light and driver's side dorr light doesn't work after I attempted to put bigger bulb(stupid me). Since my passanger door light works 100% and only dome light and driver's side door doesn't work, if I change the driver's door switch then everything will work again? do i need to change the windows switch, too?

The WINDOW SWITCH IS the switch you need to change.. not the little door switch that sets the dome light.. the WINDOW SWITCH. *IF* its yer drivers side that is not working properly, then replace the drivers window switch. That will fix your courtesy light problem and MAY remedy the dome light.

$115 or so.. I'd recommend a boneyard or eBay.. or FanaticRockford on here.. he usually has a lot of parts for sale!
