Custom catback
Custom catback
so i went to my uncles exhast shop today and made myself some 2 1/2" cat back with a big free flowing muffler. along with the headers and ypipe, the only stock componant on my exhaust is my cat. lol when i rev it up you can feel it blowing air a good 10 feet away. the flow is amazing. it is kind of loud, but oh well..
I haven't had the means to get the suspension yet, but I want it reallllyyyyy bad..
I took some pics in the driveway this morning, I'll put those up now but Monday when I get to the job I'll take somemore while its on the lift.

Yeah I didn't like the muffler when I put it on either. it looks too ricey... it doesn't sound bad though. it sticks out too much aswell. oh well, what muffler would you guys recommend?? something smaller or something?
i think the size of it is alright, just try to get one that has less metal around the outside of it. Just a smaller area of metal on the tip.
Kinda hard to describe what I'm trying to say, hope you understand.

I like mine better!
They are Stone Mountain Racing headers/y-pipe. (Ebay special $250 + $30 shipping)
My friend has a camera with sound so next time I see him we'll take a vid and get some sound clips. It sounds really good.
So you're talking about a muffler like this:

Btw, the pic came off of this article. Its very enlightening

I tucked the muffler farther. It looks soooooooooo much better. I'm sticking with my current set up. The muffler thats on it has such a deep sexy tone. I let a friend drive it so I could listen and, omg, so so nice.
I'll probably keep the set up I have. There is nothing wrong with it and I dont mind the look. Thanks for the imput regardless.

can i ask u a quick question....did u run that 10.010 in the 1/8th with all your performance upgrades installed??? I just thought that was a little weird cause i ran a 9.9 at 78 with intake and catback....just wondering
yeah, i ran a ten flat in the 1/8th with basically CAI/headers. those are the major upgrades i've done. i just put a short ram intake on and the catback so that will probably help. i haven't run since the short ram and cat back so we'll see. tomorrow i'm putting on an underdrive pulley and changing the fluid in my trans so that will hopefully help some. my main problem with my time is spinning.. i'll spin most if not all of first and half of second. i had to put like 16 lbs of air in my tires to get it to grab somewhat.
heres the URL for the vid of my exhaust, i'll get a better one soon. i didn't want to wake up the neighbours... lol

nice jammies....hahahahahahahahhahahahah
but seriously now... its way to fart canny (to me at least)... what i would do is put on a stock muffler and call it a day... i had the same setup for a week and got tired of the car being all drowny....

i agree, it just drones alllllll the time.. i might try to find a 5th gen muffler and stick it on. i lost two tenths at the track after putting a short ram intake instead of a CAI, a underdrive pulley, and the catback.. so idk what happened but i'm pissed.
i like my pjs... lol

doesnt sound too fart canny. My greddy sounds somewhat like that but it's deeper I think. You guys gotta remember that its a video. Sound is obviously distorted. I have a 5th gen muffler if you want it btw lol.
yeah, idk cause i think it sounds good, everyone i know whos heard it thinks it sounds great. some ppl make fun of the huge tip but w/e. i'll probably keep it or change it with a 5th gen muffler. i took it to the track last night and ran a 10.2 after adding a short ram instead of the CAI, the cat back, and an underdrive pulley. i had been running a 10.0 before all that.. i dunno if it was just the weater, it was a little hotter and more humid than my 10.0 runs and i dunno if i dont have enough back pressure and the 2 1/2" is hurting me with the open muffler. i still have my cat so i would think thats plenty of back pressure but idk... oy well what to do right... haha
How much did you pay? Or if you didt, any clue how much it wouldave cost? I have been looking to get a custom bent exhaust, but Im not sure the cost.
Nice job BTW, looks nice, and I hope you like it!

and no, its not mendrel bent but its 2 1/2 inches so even though its not mendrel bent, its still bigger than the stock exhaust in the smallest spot.
