how much of a difference is 18" vs. 20" rims?
I will be the first SA to respond before anyone else does.
20" is 2 inches larger than 18" LOL

Seriously, why does it seems that 18" or even 19" seem a bit too small for the max and 20" too big?

Is it because of the tire or the drop?

It is like on a max with 18" people are like ohh are those 17"
but with 20" people are like Ohhhhhhhhhhhh daaaaaaaaammmm (about to have an orgasm)
those 20" are awesome!!

i think its one of those things... people just say dayyyamn for no reason... if i showed people the stock 15s and then the next day rolled around with 18s they'd probably think they were 20s or 19s... it doesnt make much sense to me... but ohwellz... its not my prob... i just hate it when people dis on me for not having 20s... the rides horrible from what i've heard and the rim weight... now thats daaayamn...

RE: Wheelwells.

It's the wheelwells. The Maxima hass HUGE-AS* wheelweels. I'm thinking of taking off my 17"s and putting my stock 15"s back on (not really). Now I have to but lowering springs that drop it 3" to look even remotely good.

18's = 19's

listen the diameter of a 18 inch wheel with a tire next to a 19 with a tire is the same exact diameter except for the diameter of the actual wheel. Example 18x8 235/40 is the same as 19x8 235/35. now if you grab that 18 inch wheel and attach a 245/40 18 tire now you just now gained tire width and a bit of sidewall height just in case you didnt know that. And the ride will be a bit more smoother. and you dont have to go 20's.

my biggest reason for not going bigger than 18?

well its true that the diameter is the same if you have lower profile tires, but the mass of the larger wheels is focused more on the outer area of the diameter than with a smaller rim... i forgot what the physics word is for it, but basically, the rotational inertia is alot higher, and it takes more effort to rotate it... the smaller rims have the mass of the rims more focused towards the center... and they are lighter... so there you go...
