In-dash tray jammed in 1999

Last night I was smoking in my car and I ended up putting this chapstick thing in the tray in my dash. Its a little circular chapstick tub type thing and it sat on its side when I closed the tray... and needless to say I jammed it. Just wondering if any of you guys have ever jammed this thing and what you used to unjam it. I punched it a few times hoping it would pop open again.

It kind of sucks because I have two overdue parking tickets in there and its my favorite storage compartment in the car. again my maxima is a 1999. thanks guys..

I had a pen stuck in mine...I have no helpful advice aside from just messing with it.

Try sticking a piece of metal (coat hanger?) and try getting the chapstick off its side so you can open the drawer.

Punching it, however, is not the brainiest decision.

thanks a lot... I just needed some positive reinforcement. I guess these things happen when you're blitzed. I thought I was invincible

Easiest way without damaging it would be just to take out the center trims.

As if you were trying to installed a new headunit or do the a/c led mod.

the tray is a seperate piece and can be easily taken off.

Once you have it out, give it a good shake, it should come loosen whatever is holding the drawer closed.

Remember, i'm only advising you if you are concered of damaging it. Those black slide out trays are rare and $$ at the dealers.

I would take two coat hangers and try and pry it open. It could mark up the rim of the tray but if you really need to open it its worth a try...
