I believe that the J30 or Q45 upgrade can work with the factory 16's. Don't quote me on that though. The difference with them and the Z32 is that the pistons are on the inside instead of on the outside of them caliper. That's why you have to use 17's with the Z32. They are pretty wide calipers.
I'm using G35 coupe 17's with the Q45's and Cobra 13" rotors.

you would need brackets to run the 13" rotors, I would assume the same for 12.6 rotors since they are only .4" smaller than the 13" and much bigger than the Q/J/Z rotors.
the Q/J caliper setup would fit under 16" but a very specific kind. Naturally if you had the Z32 wheels it would fit under there.

Jeff was the one making the brackets. I dont know if he is still making them but PM him anyway.
if not PM me, I'm not sure if I'm going to sell mine off yet or still do the J/Q caliper setup.

If your doing the true Z32 swap, you DO NOT need 17's, the Z32 OEM 16's will work. What ever wheels you do use, they have to be 16's and up, and the wheels spokes need to be able to clear the calipers.
Larger rotors are going to require both larger wheels and relocation brackets for the calipers. Once again, spoke design will play a factor.
