00vi upper with 98 lower..help..

alright, been out of the loop for a while. looking at just modding a lower to go with the upper and then installing that...i know it can be done...hell i could have sworn tilley posted about it back in the day...problem? cant find the dang link...

yes i have search...but cant get ahold of the damn link. can anyone help me out? :attention

You have to flip around your 98 lower manifold, drill for your 00VI, and helicoil the holes. PM Stephan max he does it for a small fee

There is another way, you can fip around the lower, drill out 2 of the brass inserts on the 00vi to accept the #10 bolts your lower uses (buy longer #10 bolts), drill and tap 2 1/4-20 holes in the lower (use long bolts or threaded rod as studs). You end up not needing helicoils at all and its plenty strong if you utilize enough thread engagement. But, it is a royal pain to drill out the brass inserts, brass tends to grab easily. You can do it with some finesse and a lot of WD-40 on the drill bit.

I welded the holes shut in the lower and tapped new ones.

Best way to do it I still wish I could have gone that way. Unfortunately I don't have the tools or money to do it, and you have to have one or the other.
