I am thinking about getting an intake for my 97 SE. I was wondering what brands are good and which ones arent. Do they really make that big of a difference?

Also I would like to get exhaust. What kind of exhuast is good for the price? Don't want to pay too much becuase parents don't want to put any more money into the car.

I would like to be the first to welcome you to the MAxima.org forum. Thanks for joining.

If you look through many of the postings prior to this one, you can find previous conversatinos about both these topics.

The exhaust question depends on a variety of things:
Volume desired
Performance desired
Inspectability (state inspection that is)

Air intake:
Do you mind cutting your fender?
You can put a drop in KN filter in your box and get similiar performance as a POP charger open in your engine compartment. The drop in KN will cost 35 to 50 dollars.

CAI (cut your fender open) will get great results and can vary in price from 179 to 300 depending on construction, supplier, and if it has the pressure valve in it for the unforseen possibility of high water.

There will be more people to respond shortly.
