at the base of the KS there is a U shaped pin. remove the pin and the KS slides off.

Hi mizzax, I am really mechanically challenged. How do I get the U shape pin off?

small flat head screw driver. just wedge it in and the pin will slide up.

its the silver square pin. "|__|" it comes out very effortlessly.

Mdeezy,
How did you get to the KS? Did you use an extension or did you try and get your hand i there? I thought about removing/moving all the fuel lines and wired that are blocking the entrance to the KS, but decided that would be too much work.

Thanks you guys for your help. I got the new sensor in. If I over or under tighten the knock sensor, would it trigger a 0304 code? How should I tell if it's working normally and the bolt needs to be adjusted?

Whatever you do, do not over tighten the knock sensor. Nothing would be worst than over tightening a new knock sensor for it to crack or get damage. If all is good, you can check your ECU for codes and if you had only the Knock Sensor (0304) code or not.

Excuse me for jumping on your thread, but I plan on changing mine as soon as it warms up, should you stop tightening when you feel it get tight or give it 1 or 2 more turns?

Many people have suggested once hand tightening the bolt, give it 1/4 turn with rachet. 1 turn or more will be too much.
