Clutch Problems ... need advise
Clutch Problems ... need advise
So my mechanic says that my extreme clutch chatter is due to a defective pressure plate (just had this installed 2 weeks ago). I have seen the physical disk and plate. The disk has REALLY deep scratches in random places and the plate has rub marks and burn marks (even in places that don't normally have contact). They also said that the plate was not releasing from the clutch on one half of the contact surface.
So I called some Nissan dealers b&^$hing that their parts were defective. I purchased the entire 2K clutch kit directly from them. Some dealers said they would replace it, some said since 3rd party did it they won't replace it, and one said only if they can tell the pressure plate is bad then they will replace it.
One dude also noted that he has worked with Nissan since '87 and has never seen a defective pressure plate.
Notes: Throw out bearing was replaced, flywheel was resurfaced, all new 2K parts going into my '98 SE. The parts were purchased from the dealer and installed by a 3rd party. I can definitely tell the pressure plate and clutch disk are messed up.
I need to know what to say to Nissan to get my parts replaced since they were defective and I would also like to know if anyone has heard of pressure plates being defective. All other opinions and suggestions are welcome. I am just SOOOO pissed that my parents bought me this kit for Christmas, I have been charged 400 in labor (included some side work), and now I have to pay labor AGAIN to get the new disk and plate installed on top of maybe having to purchase a new clutch kit. There is always the possibility of bad install, but is it likely? PLEASE HELP!
