Anything strong enough to actually clean them does not come in a $2.99 bottle. They can be removed and cleaned professionaly, but just know that it can literally be **** in a bottle that you are paying for (not highly regulated).

Besides being professionally cleaned, Chevron Techron is your best bet for bottled cleaners...

BG makes a kit that is normally found at the dealership and performed at a dealership that is 3 cans, 1 in your fuel tank, 1 in your throttle body and 1 thru your fuel rails. I would put that above chevron techron but price is i think 120$ for the service.

chevron stuff like near 5 a bottle. but yea that stuff in a bottle can be anything, i've heard in some cases its just kerosene,

theres also another thing similar called winns injector cleaner. only available to shops and its like $25 a bottle or something rediculous and you need a special machine to do it. its supposed to clean all the carbon out of your injectors and parts of your engine. that is also about $120 service

yes.

anything store baught is far inferior to the winns treatment i was talking about (from experience). didnt really notice anything from the store baught stp but when i did the winns treatment i felt an imediate change in throttle response, a smoother idle, and a bit better gas mileage. thats why i recommend it to anyone with high mileage.

the winn treatment is the same as the BG treatment. its a gravity bottle places in the throttle body or off the fuel rail. TRUST ME, I've preformed both services at the dealership.

I've seen the winn (or wynn) system at most American shops, i used this shortly when i was with Chrysler and i've used BG when i was with Volkswagen. Dealership upsells that for the most part does what it claims and sometimes if your car is complete crap it has a chance of messing it up completely. Saw hydrolocking on a jeep before as well.

This 120$ service is roughly the same as Seafoaming an engine, or top engine clean at chevy's. But done thru fuel rail or brake booster. at $7 a can or less and there are write up's and videos of how to do it. You smoke up the whole street when doing it and its a kick to do.

Check out the CRC industries website, they make the best mass air filter cleaners and throttlebody cleaners. They may have a good injector cleaner.

If they don't have any use redline fuel treatment, its one of the best!

techron is good stuff, but don't over-do it. it will get into your oil and eat away at your bearings a little bit. best to change the oil immediately following the tankful that was treated.

I think the stuff at costco is not the same as full strength techron concentrate. they sell more than 1 kind, and the cheaper stuff is not the same.

I've recently used a bottle of techron and switched exclusively to chevron gas for the same reason as you (cleaning out injectors) and I've actually noticed a difference. I'm 100% sure it's not placebo, too, as my sister and cousin have recently asked me why my car feels more responsive than usual. Granted, I've already gone through 2 or 3 tank fulls of gas after the initial treatment, but there definitely is a difference so I say the techron is the way to go for a bottle.

i used to buy into that cleaner stuff. i've tried almost every brand imagineable (with the exception of B&G). everthing else regarless of price is useless. i did a little experiment: i went a couple of months using 87 fuel. gas mileage dropped tremendously. then i started adding the 'fuel injector cleaners' and did that for a few months. nothing. (BTW in this experiment i would fill up at the same gas station, same pump, everytime. this helps keeping the quality of gas the same.) the last part of my experiment consisted of Shell V-Power 93 (I was using shell the whole time, just went from 87 to 93), no fuel injector cleaners, and i went from 270 mi per tank avg., to 330 mi per tank avg. that's convincing enough for me to just stick with 93 octane and not waste any money on the cleaners. by the time you divide the amount of $ it cost for a bottle of cleaner by the amount of gallons it takes to fill up your car, you would have spent less $ to just buy premium.

On the Shell gasoline. It really is cleaner. As for Techron, Redline SI-1 is better. Same ingredient, higher concentration. I have used Techron.........no results (maybe the motor was dirty). I have used Gummout Regane and SI-1 on engines I knew to be heavily deposited. Both worked extremely well. (I didn't "step on the gas and feel much more power" like Seafoam users imagine really happened). Actually pulled the plugs and looked at the difference. And since I mentioned Seafoam, if you decide to use that you will be better off .

Because it is like the Tornado Fuel Saver. Or like that car polish that used to be advertised in the early 90's where they would set the car on fire and calimed the car polish was the reason it didnt burn up to bits. And people fall for it.

ok, no offense, then why would you suggest transtune for power steering flushes ? (I just did that ntw, need to flush now). But i totally respect your suggestions and opinions nevertheless

because Transtune is a different product and it works for PS systems. (Not to mention a complete PS flush is fairly easy to do).

AV gas has got some lead in it, and it will take out your catalytic converter if you use it in your Max...

My 12.5:1 compression 466 in my 79' Bronco runs great on it though

Alright, point taken, most fuel injectors are **** in a bottle, so how do u guys suggest the rest of us mortals clean our injectors and the rest of the fuel system to restore performance and fuel economy ?

Choice A: take car to mechanic and get "fuel injection service"

Choice B: remove fuel injectors and have them sent in to be professionally cleaned

Choice C: purchase new injectors and install

I have personally cured hesitation problems with techron fuel system cleaner. And no i'm not one of those people that believe in just any snake oil cleaner. I think seafoam is useless from my experiences.

also, if you really want to clean things up, try some Auto-RX in your engine. It will clean Varnish and Sludge. It is also safer than seafoam or an engine flush.

Did BG 44k on a previous car, amazing results. You get what you pay for, with new injectors obviously your best bet. I use techron in a bottle before oil changes cuz I mentally think it's better, but I have no objective proof.
