Ahhh it does have the same bootlid then (as far as i can see it really is just a different bootlid, without the lip and with the garnish).

We've got no Infiniti brand at all over here, everything comes under Nissan (although it sounds like we miss out entirely on gadgets like the auto-dimming mirror etc). We get all the normal options as standard on the top model, with the only option being the in-dash LCD TV (do you guys get that? will find a pic) and spoiler (standard on 30S though), but none of the Infiniti only bits.

Edit - I think this is a scan of the original sales brochure for the '99 30GV. See the tv :P folds up and slides into the dash. Just haven't seen any mention of it on this site... sad it only works when in park

wow.. Its so similar haha... But what is at the bottom of the center console right above the shifter it looks like a button? ... No the US models didnt have an LCD to my knowledge, the BOSE stereo is the only audio upgrade on the Maxima. I know a very slim amount of 99 I30s had a factory navigation system but if I remember it correctly it didnt look like the one in your picture. As far as the LCD only working in park, there must be a work around ..

Yeah I'm hoping for a workaround :P

The "button" is a cigarette lighter from what I can see.

The LCD is actually a tv, with an analogue antenna (I'm not sure where, maybe it's part laid over the back screen like the dual radio antenna thing). Also apparently has RCA inputs so would be awesome with an in-car DVD or inverter + console, if I can find that workaround Hell even just tv for the kid on long trips would be good.

Edit - a link on the AUDM models (circa '99) and some more details on the tele.

Yeah it's still a max mate, no such thing as infiniti over here, let alone the i30.

Been told it's basically a cefiro, i30 outside max inside. dunno what rear garnish the cefiro's have but i don't mind this one. i30 garnish looks like it varied from year to year, all out 4gen's had the same.

I'm seriously looking at it. Trying to get in touch with the seller to check it out this weekend. Price is a bit high but it's basically in perfect condition with low milage (120' km's/75K miles), but there's another one around for $4k less so might use that to beat him down

Then just need to talk to the bank, and sell my current car at some point (can get the max first though)...

that sounds like a pain in the butt to go thru. why is there a 4 k difference in price between similar cars ? thats seems a bit too much

at 120 KM the car can double that with proper maintenance with EASE, its just the question of: do u want to have it for that long ??!!

have fun, i love driving my max...

lol yeah...

Well $7900 v $11450, cheaper one has 180K on it.. more expensive is 120K

Both totally stock, single owner with full logs and both have to same options, cheaper one was lady owner probably just shops and back etc, just an a to b car.

More expensive one looks like it's been loved (not trying to be stereotypical/racist here, but they sound like ME names and they LOVE their nissans). Always serviced by Nissan (whether this is a plus or a minus ) but they've always payed the extra for it, always garaged, presents much better and personally I prefer the colour more.

Still though, it's a bit pricey so will try get him down maybe $1.5K and I'd be happy to pay the extra for the nicer car.

umm...........................

HOW much did u say? u realize these are 10 year old cars u r talking about right ?

i paid $4400 canadian + they took my 91 buick regal (which i paid $500 can for 6 months prior) for a 97 maxima with 203000 KM on it with safety and certification
they changed the windhield and replaced the right mirror housing which was cracked, and changed my oil for me

Dude either ur currency exchange is wack, or there is something i am missing.

how much is that in canadian dollars ?

LOL, yeah our cars are expensive mate. Pretty much everything is imported at great expense + taxes, and our currency is at the bottom of the list.

Locally, for $10K the max is great value. For the same money I can get a local built holden (GM) commodore of the same year, middle of the range, which is a 3.8L v6 putting out slightly more than the max. Is a bigger car but won't have half the options the max has, uses more gas and all the trim will be falling off LOL. Commodores for us are like the Max in the US, except the Max is a whole lot better built. The 30GV max (top model) which is $10K today was $50K new.

Otherwise you just get boring crap like camry's and magna's, or you go down to smaller 4cyl's which you can get newer cars for the money but really nothing special.

the 30g's (most common model) go for about $7K, but I'd rather spend the extra money and get all the goodies.

ok i get it, its the currency exchange rate.

Alright, here is what i think, but thats just me ok ? ... :
I dont know your specific needs and wants but from what u just stated i would go for the nissan maxima thats more expensive. u cant buy mileage and that car has damn low mileage. especially with australlian weather its never been salted like the cars here in canada are evey winter.

I would never buy an old 4Cyl, those are dead engines most of the time, and the max is not as fuel efficient as u might think, at BEST it gets 21 to 22 mpg (i dont believe folks on here who claim 28- 30 mpg, they either dont know how to calculate it properly or are lying, sorry)

never buy american, its crap, dont forget u have a ****ty max scene over there so u will have to pay the dealer prices if u need something repaired and japanese parts are usually more expensive then american (at least here they are). dunno what a magna is but dont completely rule out the V6 camry (97 and up) its a great value.

Ah magna is a mitsubishi, dunno what it might be called over there. Basically another dead boring small family sedan lol.

Yeah I'm definitely going for the low milage car, just using the fact the other one is so damn cheap to beat him down a bit (like "you know there's this other one for $4k less" you get the idea).

21-22 MPG works for me, I don't need it to be super cheap to run, and for a v6 it's still pretty damn good. We guage economy by Litres/100Km's over here, my conversion says that 22MPg is just over 9L/100KM which is pretty damn good, I'd be extatic if I can get that low out on the highway. Other max drivers (well, the one or two I've found) say they get about 12L/100Km around town which is still good in my eyes. Commodores use 13-14L/100Km around town which is like 15 or so MPG.

The Max is a good car, I have driven mine hard since the day I bought it, 60k then now at 90k and only minor problems.

So do you guys have Honda's? If so what about the Accord or the equivalent over there?

Yeah we have the accord, not a hugely popular model again. Most people after family sedans go the Mistubishi Magna, Camry, or the 2 big locals the Commodore (Holden/GM) or the Falcon (Ford). 4cyls and smaller capacity 6's are getting more popular with fuel prices the way they are, but go back 10 years and everything was just "the bigger, the better".

I agree and disagree. The max does get crappy city mpg...I have gotten about 17-19 mpg this winter. However, if you jump on the highway and travel 90%+ highway...I have gotten 25-27 mpg. Go with a max tho. You will not regret it.
