Fuel Pump Gasket
Whatsup...
I was havn issues with my car a while back, thought it was the fuel pump. turns out it was fine. on the reinstall though, i could never full get the gasket on perfectly...i figured it was fine.
ever since then, I get pretty stong smells of gas occassionally, but more importantly, whenever i fill it up all the way, gas spills out underneath of the car, at the front of the tank where some hose is connected. also the gauge has become less reliable.
does the guage work through some sort of vacuum? are all these probs caused by that little gasket?

gauge works by a lever inside the tank. Did you make sure allt he connectors were on tight?
Also the fuel pump doesnt have a gasket, the access place does have an o-ring- Im assuming this is what you're talkin about. Sometimes it can be reused, but sometimes yea they are bad. Get a new one from Nissan if you cant get it to sit properly in its grove. If you have a strong smell of gas inside the car, guaranteed that o-ring isnt making a good seal.
Good luck
** also make sure you hooked up the hoses with the clamps correctly
