For those of you with Stillen intakes, a cleaning ques.

I tried to remove my filter and had no luck, if I wasnt fed up with trying I was goind to remove the whole pipe, I m sure mine is clogged up by now. What is the best way to remove the filter? and can I pressure clean it with my pressure washer? will it tear it up or not? Also what do you use to clean it with, ie. plain water or a chemical?

Just wanted a few pointers from the experienced fellas out there, thanks.

The filter can be easily removed from the MAF by unscrewing the 4 hex bolts. You can also remove just the filter from the velocity stack by loosening the worm clamp screw.

A pressure washer is unnecessary. Use a regular garden hose and spray the filter from the INSIDE out. You want to flush the dirt out of the filter element, not jam it further in. After it dries, lightly (emphasis on LIGHTLY) re-oil the filter with a K&N Filter Recharge kit. Wait an hour or so and reinstall.

Yeah I figured so, just loosen the stack and bring the whole thing up, cool I got everything else, I should be able to buy the k&n cleaing kit at a autopart store, what do I need to oil? The outside or inside? and by lightly do you mean one dab with a cloth for the whole process? why do I need to wait for an hour? sorry for all the questions, I appreciate the fast response.

Oil the outside of the filter. The K&N oil kit is a spray bottle. Just lightly mist it because if you over oil the filter it will gunk up your MAF sensor and ruin it. Wait an hour so the oil soaks in real good. But I guess you don't have to wait if you're in a big rush. I always waited a while before reinstalling and driving just to be on the safe side.

DO NOT use a pressure washer, that will more than likely tear the filter.

Your filter is a k&n unit and a pressure washer will ruin it. Do what ewuzh reccomends and wait before you install the filter. The k&n oil should come with the "filter cleaning kit". In the case of oil, less is better, but you don't want any white/light colored spots left on the filter before you re-install it. You wait the hour so you can touch up some of the spots you might have missed with the orginal oiling.
hope that helps.

check in the detailing section for reccommendations. You can spend as much or as little as you want to detail your car. The more time you spend with the proper products, the better your end result will be.
Most people reccommend a clay bar to remove old wax and crap from the paint, then put on a 3 step of some sort. Polish, and wax need to be in that formula somewhere.
goodluck.

Go buy the cleaner kit right now. It has detailed instructions on how to do it. I clean my filter every other oil change and never had a problem w/MAF going bad. In fact I tend to finish through a bottle of cleaner before the oil. That's why I said screw it and bought a big bottle of both... I'm set for life now.
