Transmission Kickdown?

So I bought a 99 max SE w/ 115K. My problem is that when I come to a stop sign, and don't completely stop, the transmission sometimes doesn't want to start off in 1st gear. If I come to 1-5mph it will start off in second gear. If i come to 6-10mph it will start out in 3rd. I can push the accelerator hard to get it to kick down but I shouldn't have to. Is there something malfunctioning here? It just doesn't seem like it is dropping into 1st gear at the right times.

If I come to NEARLY a complete stop it will start off in 1st but who wants to fully stop at stop signs lol.

there is nothing that can be done here? Is there a transmission sensor that could be going bad?

I tried to search but had negative results...thanks!

I guess Accord downshifts > Maxma downshifts.

I just rebuilt my trans and it still does this. So dont think anything is wrong with your trans, its just what the auto does.

it's normal...for smooth accelaration...it's not programmed as a sports car...eitherway, if it did kickdown to 1st, it would be a harsh take off and not comfartable, unless u really gun...take it easy on the car and it will take care of u
