bad day
Definitely NOT totalled, and going to be very pricey to fix. Either way, your insurance is going to go up, or you are going to shell out cash to fix everything. Hood, fender, headlights, bumper cover and anything under it that is messed up. Under body sheet metal that might be f'd. Paint. Damn
Sorry to see this. What happened?

here's the question..do you want it to be totaled????? Assuming you don't.....its gonna cost you a pretty penny to fix......i'm guessing the air bags didn't come out...but if they did..the cars done..n its going to be totaled..
Its definitely more than $1000 in damages. If the bags blew its certain that its totaled. However they didnt, I think that you are looking at about $2500-3000 in damages. That is if you need a new hood, headlights, grille, bumper, bumper cover, radiator support, bumper lights...ect. Did the quarterpanels dent?
Anyways sorry to hear of your loss.

I wouldn't be surprised if insurance considers it totaled. They usually push for a total if damages are more than 60-70% of the value of the car (depending on the company). What did you hit?
... by anychance were you tailgating a truck that was a little higher up and he hit his breaks? or just weren't paying attention and hit a parked truck? just from the way the rub marks ontop of the bumper are thats what it looks like to me
i doubt the bags blew. There minimal bumper impact and the hood just sheered up because he hit at the perfect level for the bumper to slide under. It looks like a pretty low speed impact so unless there is somehow severe damage lurking under the hood such as radiator issues. I'd replace it with flat black parts to keep it cheap and just keep the car around.
A new unpainted hood is just under 400, dunno a junkyard or ebay price, i got new OEM headlights for 58 dollars on ebay with bulbs and everything. Both corner lights can be had for about the same price. Then you need a new grille and at some point a new bumper probably.

Ouch, thats too bad bro, I feel your pain as I lost my 98 GLE in a similar fashion. If you want to compare your case to mine it would have cost me $3,063 in parts to fix, but that includes used airbags ($950 for two), new motor mount and crossmember ($550), and a used bumper ($375). Your car does not look as bad as mine did so assuming you don't need any of the listed parts you are at $1,188 in parts alone. If you need more info I still have the detailed estimate in hand, good luck!
it was a toyota camry going like 10mph and it was just people who dont know how to stop properly and use there blinker which caused 3 other cars to have to slam on there brakes and i was at then end of the line and my foot got stuck. From the parts i can see i need; hood, bumper cover, headlights bumper lights grill and possible radiator support thats it, and i've found all the parts online and its about $900 for parts and my friends dad owns a body shop so we can do a lot of the install and just have his dad paint it and save a lot of money....they better not total it, i just put on my new full exhaust and everything.
My 96 looked almost identical to that when I wrecked it in 2003 and it was $6000 in repairs without airbag deployment.
Insurance fixed it based on a $3700 estimate, but there was a lot that was damaged underneath that had to be replaced. The insurance adjuster told me that had he done a better estimate, he would have totalled it out.

Looking your picture is almost a mirror image of what happened to my max awhile back, a truck backed into my lowered max so it missed the lights, but the hood was destroyed. Luckily it wasn't my fault so I had to pay nothing, woo!Cost of Repair: $2400

Ewuzh installed the chrome ones. Very nice looking, and output is decent. Look at reply #30, for the output pictures.
I think someone else installed the blacked out ones...don't remember. Somewhere in the 12ish pages...
Good luck.
i've decided on the lights, my final question of for parts that i really care about that i need is the hood. do you think it would be better for me to buy a new hood and have it painted or just get a carbon fiber hood off of e-bay and not have to worry about getting it painted?
I had similar dmage when a clown ran the red light a couple years back, my dmg was around $3000. Thank goodness they didn't total you for that percentage. Cosmetic dmg mostly other than lights it looks like.

Don't think it would be totalled unless you have way high miles and the thing is KBB valued at 3k or something. Then you might have a problem.
It they total it, take the exhaust off and save it for your new one or resell it here.
