Bolt size for driver-side rear manifold bracket?

Still installing the 00VI, finally putting the upper on. The rear manifold brackets are in the way- the passenger side bracket I can bend back just a bit to get clearance, the driver-side bracket needs to be bent much more and I can't quite get enough leverage on it. The bolt at the bottom of the bracket that holds it to the rear of the block (or wherever it connects) I just can't seem to fit it with any socket, metric or US. Anything funny about these bolts?
I would dremel off the top half of it, but the last thing I need is another exposed sharp edge. I don't have a set of the sockets for removing stripped bolts, but I don't think that's the issue.
Anyone ever remove these brackets? Anything funny going on with the bolt down there? No, I haven't looked with a mirror yet, will do this weekend when I get back under the hood.
Thanks!
