Possible timing chain noise on a 97?
I have a 97 and I know that the timing chain is supposed to last the life of the car. But recently im getting a very loud rattle/clanking noise near the drive belt. When i'm at a stop the noise is very loud in gear, and if I throw it into neutral it pretty much gets quiet and under load its quiet also.
So my questions: Is my timing chain loose possibly?
Could I possibly tighten it, or will I need to get it replaced?
Could it possibly be something completely different that is wrong?
The car has 142k on it, and the oil has been changed ever 3k regularly since I picked it up with 93k.
