Apexi WS2 (97-99) owners... help!

I bought and installed the Apexi WS2 about a month ago. The whole time I've had it, though, it's been clunking against something under the car. I trimmed the bumper, that didn't fix it.

I tried new hangers, that didn't fix it either.

It *looks* like it's hitting at the part that goes over the rear beam, up by the gas tank or trunk.

Just looking to see if this is a common thing, and how to fix it.

Your car is too low, and it's the b-pipe hitting. There's a couple of wyas to fix it.
1. Raise the car alil
2. Have the B-Pipe cut, and extended to avoid the beam. I had the same issue with my custom exhaust.

i've got that along with a few other problems w/ my WS.

i had to remove my rear passenger side tow hook because it was hard up against that. after removing it, it started banging against the tow hook mount bracket. so i bent that outta the way (quick fix).

then it started hitting the exhaust hangar rod thats right behind the resonator on the drivers side. i trimmed it and that worked.

now it's up against the heat shield (in front of the gas tank) on the gas tank side. it rubs and squeeks pretty bad at idle.

and like your problem, over bad bumps, the b-pipe hit. my b-pipe hits before the highest point of the arc over the axle so i think shortening the b-pipe over by the resonator should fix both my problems. let us know what you end up doing.

For me it was a bracket under the catback not far behind the cat. I had this problem after installing my Apexi ws2.

Your WS2 is hitting this bracket when you hit road bumps and the like.

Just remove the bracket. You don't need it, some new exhaust hangers will provide plenty of support for that great catback. Enjoy.

I had the same trouble with My Apexi exhaust. My fix came by using old-parts. About the time of the exhaust install, I changed the front sway-bar end-link bushings. You can use those to create a rubber "buffer" between the metal in the bracket. It worked perfectly for me and I've never had a clunk ever since. They fit right onto the exhaust hanger.

That's what I call "recycling" old parts.

Remove the rear tow hook on the left side of the car. i had the same problem. I also replaced my rubber hangers for the b-pipe and that allowed me to go over speed bumps without scraping the piping.
