Next Best Mod?

I Have a '96 SE, 5 speed.
Mods so far:
Weapon-R Intake
GReddy Catback exhaust
Warpspeed Y-Pipe

What else can I do to get some more power?
Headers?
MEVI?
ECU?
What will help me the most?
Thanks for helping

tune with an EU or vafc/safc
UDP (low hp/dollar ratio though)
put the car on a diet and shave some weight off it

I would do a mevi or nitrous, if you ever plan to run nitrous than do not bother with the ecu but if you do not plan to run nitrous in the future get the ecu cause it will increase the gains of the mevi

one bad thing about the ecu is your stuck with the setting and you have to run 91+ gas

and headers for the cost and labor they are not worth it

good luck

Not in any particular order, but 00VI + headers + wb + piggyback.

Even if he drove a USIM with a knock-sensor code firing on five cylinders what bearing would that have on the facts?

If you want a faster car, get a supercharger. Turbo's really are not designed well for our engine unless you're dragging but a SC, coupled with a light weight UDP really helps out. You'll loose low end power. Also, get rid of all your cats - she'll pass inspection when its warm. Next after SC is nitro.

But that's some serious coin. If you really want a faster Maxima, find a 3.5L 5 speed 02/03. Then start modding it.

I'd get headers first just because 00vi or MEVI is quite an advance stage... so I"d prep my car up to the task first

mevi is great and will always stand by it ,if your a pretty handy mechanic then play around with the oovi for the added mid range thats suppose to be missing from the mevi (i have yet to notice the missing hp butt dyno of course) , ecu ,forget the headers unless u purchased the cattman combo with the y-pipe . spending money to get headers and then like another 300-400 hundred to install at a shop for an add 4-8 hp is not kosher with me but to each there own. unless u doing it yaself but still not worth it unless u go 3.5 which really should be all u should be thinin about and just say screw all these ather mods tilley i think has them premade for like 3 g's. if i knew someone around me that could work on a swap like that for me i would sell u my modds

I dont know about that one....the swap is pretty easy, there's nothing really 'complicated' involved in it, most parts are bolt-on without any custom fabrication needed. Use DE-K upper/lower/injectors/rail/tb, shave off a little bit on coil packs and rear valve cover, and you're good. Its not hard.

I dont agree 100% with that. Yeah it's not a very hard process but there is more to it than people think, at least the new guys. Look how many threads there are in the all motor of people that can't get the car to run right. It's not complicated per say but does require some type of skill. Not everyone would know how to wire injectors, or the rpm switch, redo vacuum lines, etc. But I do agree its worth while. I like mine but will def swap in the 3.5 in the future ($$ permitting).

i would make sure like some ppl said all the smaller details that will make your car drive better.

flywheel, clutch. tires. general maintenance (filters, fluids/oils, sparks) no codes. if you have all this stuff up to par, i would say next in line is suspension and handling. new struts/spring, bearings, mounts if needed, etc... throw on a front strut bar after and perhaps a rear sway bar.

the extra suspension will be much safer and feel better around any turn. then you should go ahead to the 3.5! i think itll be the best mod instead of trying to spend money improving the 3.0. i did my full exhaust and im not working on the engine bc next stop will be a 3.5. altho i love the vq30 and i dont mind driving around with it till that time comes

Thanks for the help guys! I had a few codes which I cleared. I am going to make sure my ks and o2 are ok, then get a tune up. I think I'll find a nice suspension setup and add strut bars, then go with the oovi. Thanks again!

its 00vi not oovi. Could run into a problem trying to find oovi parts.

it does matter. There have been a lot of guys that come in and say they can't find info on oovi and want help. The answer is that its 00vi not oovi. That's why people cant find stuff. It's just how life is. Knowing what you're talking about is important. It wasn't about making fun of you.
