Correct me if I am wrong...

I ordered a pr of clearance lights for my 95 maxima about a week ago. I got them in today and of course they are wrong. Both are 1156 and clearance are 1157. In the auction is says "FOR 1995-1999 NISSAN MAXIMA ALL MODELS" and "CORNER LIGHTS = THE LIGHT RIGHT NEXT TO VEHICLES' HEADLIGHTS" aka clearance lights. The only lights that have 1156 are the turn signals for both the front and rear. I told him I have the manual in front of me. Is there a website that has the bulb sizes for a 4th gen max?

I'm pretty sure they will work as long as you use your stock wiring and not the supplied wiring. Maybe I don't fully understand your situtation, but I ordered some black/chrome corner lights and they came with the 97-99 wiring, but I simply used the stock wiring to make it work on my 96.

Anyway, hope that helps.

depends if you want that light to get brighter when you turn your signal on or not.

95-96 corner lights gets brighter when the turn signal is on i think it's the 1157 bulb
97-99 doesn't

1157's are dual filament, thats why they get brighter when the signals are turned on, just like brake lights get brighter when the brakes are applied.
You can use 1156's in the corners just like maxima985spd stated but they will not get brighter when the signals are on.

You will need a nail file or nail clipper to rid that nub so it will fit.

Also, for clarification of all this 'brightness talk'.

The 1156 = 1157's highest output. So, if you replace with the 1156, it will always be brighter.

My current clearance bulbs were filed down so they are brighter. So an 1156 will fit, but it wont get bright with the turn signal on? It looked to me that 1157 2 filaments were on the end and the 1156 was in the middle and doesnt seem like they would be in contact
