OK, I've seen tons of posts on making the clear turn signals in the real, but how about having all red tails?? I'm asking 'cause I love the look of the current VWs with the all red tails that blink orange for turns.

Any thoughts out there??

Yeah I've got an idea, my idea is that your idea of all red tails is stupid. It is for old cars with old people drivers.

hey mackking......

i think it looks pretty good. ive seen guys use a film that 3m sells. It a pretty good match or you can spray that piece to just make sure to clear coat it also. The film can just be layed over the orange piece of the taillight. Its a good look in my opinion. I have the clear/red that i feel makes the car! and dont listen to that Infinty guy, he has no say, if he owned a MAXIMA then fine, but he dont! i mean this is MAXIMA.ORG

red taillights?

well here is what you can do for a couple of bucks.
go to a model shop and buy a couple of cans of candy apple red spray paint. remove the lights from the car and apply a light layer onto all the red pieces. Use tape to avoid overspray. this solution works for a couple of years but it eventually starts to chip. just apply another coat if it does. i used the model tint on my front signals before and it looked sick. since i have a black max it made the bumper look all black but, out of nowhere there would be an orange light popping out. enjoy =) warning do not use on the headlamps it is ILLEGAL.
cheers!

I think it is pretty messed up that you guys diss on a guy for thinking about doing something different to his max.. im sorry but i dont want my car to look excactly like everyone elses on this bbs... at least somebody is trying to be original and not just copying everyone else.. get some of your own ideas and then you can talk smack.. until then shut up

Hey Mack...

I've seen pics of a few cars that have covered the orange part with red...looks pretty good. I'm guessing that they used that tape mentioned or painted them...don't know for sure.

Mackking: Red turn signals >>

Good idea. I thought about doing this a few months ago. Alls you have to do is color the clear outer lens (the inner lens is orange) in stripes of red. The VWs and MB SLK do this. Also, there is an extremly light red tint to the entire face of the clear lens. But there is just enough "clearness" to allow for the orange light to pass through when the bulb fires.

Forget those people who criticize your idea...if you think that the red lens will look tight...then do it.

Re: It's maximaisokay...

What does its maximaisokay mean huh?
First of all people, I dont put down anywones ideas, all I said was that I thought it was stupid cause I dont like it. I can be a little harsh at times. I hope that no offense was taken. I guess I'm the stupid one here. But really though all red tails on a max, depends on what color the max is if its chanpange it will be ugly, of if it is even black it will be kinda ugly. But if you put that all red tail on a white max, sweet.

..i've got a 96 with the red lense tape on the orange part, i def like it much more than leaving it orange. I've had it for about 5 months and the tape is still sticking. If you wanna go another way about it there's red tail light spray paint.. i think the finish would be dull though so you'd prob wanna clearcoat.. you can find it on

I want to get david to do my tail lights, but would like to try this tape thing first, sounds cheap, easy, and poss cool. Where do you get this tape, whats it cost, and do you just stick on the outside and cut to fit? Thanks for info!

This might be a little extra work, but why not do the clear tail mod, then go one step further by painting the clear peice that you install to be red with the Candy Apple idea. Then you can use a clear bulb and have RED turn signals in back. I think that would be cool.

If it's all red except the reverse (needs to be white), that's ok. Make sure you cover up the orange properly-- have a bodyshop do it, or make sure you know what kind of paint to use. Cheap spray paint = bad.
